What you will need:
- MSN from an accredited school of nursing with CNL Program if applying for CNL
- Licensed Registered Nurse; must be within 6 months to licensure with CNL Certification. Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with an approved certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) is required.
- CNS Certification: Acceptable Certs: Adult Health, Pediatric Nursing, Gerontological Nursing, Public/ Community Health Nursing, Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health, Child/ Adolescent Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner
- three years acute care nursing experience
- Progressive experience in health care including involvement in direct patient care, educating staff, and problem solving of unit or organizational issues
What you will do:
- Serves as a change agent to translate and integrate evidence into practice
- Design and evaluate care and improve outcomes
- In addition to generalist preparation in nursing with enhanced clinical skills, the CNL is primarily unit or setting based and is responsible for coordination of care for a specified cohort of patients within a micro-system
- The number of patients for which the CNL is responsible depends on the health care setting and patient nature and complexity
- The mix of nursing personnel required in acute care is a function of the nature and quantity of work that must be accomplished on a particular unit. In his or her day-to-day practice, the CNL develops an overall view of patients, families and caregivers and establishes strong partnerships with them to deliver optimal care
