This position will spend 1/2 time working in the Educator role, and 1/2 time will be working on the floor.
Under the guidance of the Department Manager and the Director of Education the Clinical Nurse Educator collaborates with nursing management and staff across departments to assess, plan, develop, implement, facilitate, evaluate and revise educational programming for all levels of nursing personnel and non-nursing personnel as indicated or requested. The incumbent acts as a key resource in the orientation and continuing education of nursing staff. The Clinical Nurse Educator implements a comprehensive education program for his/her assigned units and clinics. Educational programs typically include, but are not limited to orientation, continuing education and in-services. Other services may include, but are not limited to process, performance and service-delivery consultation and contributions to the organization through ad-hoc or permanently established councils, committees and workgroups. This is a working Educator role and will require that 50% of assigned hours be spent in staffing.

The basic purpose of nursing is to provide safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Additionally, nursing will provide professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times. The Standards of Practice set forth by the professional nursing associations will provide guidelines for the competent, safe and professional practice.

Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) Job Requirements:
- Current Texas nursing license or compact license.
MSN preferred. If no BSN, will be required to have completed within 3 years of hire.
Two years full time experience in an acute care ED setting.
AHA or ARC BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider card showing completion of cognitive and skills evaluation in accordance with the curriculum of AHA BLS (CPR & AED) program.
ACLS, PALS/ENPC and TNCC required within 6 months.
National Certification preferred (CEN/TCEN).
Must be able to identify and competently address needs of populations served.
Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
Must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate team leadership.
Must have the ability to problem solve and think critically.
Must possess basic computer application skills.
