The Department of Adult Nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth invites applicants for a benefited and renewable 24 Hour per Week Clinical Instructor, starting September 1, 2024. We seek a colleague who is an experienced Adult Health educator with a strong commitment to teaching emerging professionals. Prospective faculty members must be committed to rapid pedagogical and other academic process changes, including up-to-date vaccinations, as driven by environmental conditions. This is an on-site, non-tenure position.
Primary responsibilities include instructing and evaluating the experiential clinical performance of undergraduate nursing students – agency and laboratory settings. Clinical instruction is guided by the nursing curriculum and focuses on course specific concepts as outlined in the curriculum plan and experiential clinical course outcomes. Clinical instructors identify each student's strength and weaknesses in knowledge application, attainment of core competencies, and skill performance and develops individualized plans designed to facilitate student achievement of course competencies and learning outcomes. Assignments may be in the Traditional Undergraduate or Accelerated BS tracks. Other responsibilities include continuing education needed to maintain professional licensure and certification and may include service to the department.
Required qualifications: A master’s degree in nursing from a nationally accredited program, Massachusetts RN licensure or eligibility for MA RN licensure, two or more years of full-time or full-time equivalent clinical teaching, knowledge of concept-based pedagogy.
Preferred qualifications: The required qualifications plus three or more years of full-time or full-time equivalent clinical teaching, nursing specialty certification, and Certified Nurse Educator (CNE or CNEcl) credential.
