- Associates Degree in Medical Technology or Histotechnology (minimum)
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or one of the physical sciences -- Chemistry, Biology, etc. -- PREFERRED
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in the designated Clinical Laboratory setting - PREFERRED
- Current New York State License as a Clinical Laboratory Technician / Technologist
- Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as Histolotechnologist (HT) or Qualification in Immunohistochemistry (QIHC) - PREFERRED
- Knowledge of Laboratory Information System -- Preferred
- Must possess verbal and spatial ability, form perception, finger, and manual dexterity, and clerical ability.
- Near visual acuity is required for reading results from reports and viewing computer screens
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Ability to read computer screens, procedure manuals, and other documents
- Ability to hear doorbells, alarms, telephones, and other mechanical devices
- Ability to pass a test for color blindness
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Conducts preparation, fixation, embedding, staining, and slide preparation of tissue for surgical specimens for evaluation by the Pathologist in the Anatomic Pathology Department.
