Job Description

The Clinical Evaluator - Occupational Therapist / Physical Therapist / Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) will conduct evaluations and provide hearing screening for children birth to three years old who are being evaluation for Part C Early Intervention services. The OT/PT/SLP will work with clients to provide Part C eligibility evaluations, speech evaluations, and direct intervention services. They will participate in transdisciplinary team for Early Intervention caseload as a developmental expert, as a resource to peers, and as an advocate for the needs of the individual client. The OT/PT/SLP will report to the EIE Clinical Team Lead in the Developmental & Behavioral Health Department as part of the Early Intervention Evaluation Entity. 

 

Essential Duties

Provides OT / PT / SLP assessment and intervention activities in the home, clinic, or community.
Writes timely and complete evaluation reports, treatment plans, progress notes, and other documentation needed to provide high quality services and meet funder, regulatory, and organizational standards.
Provides consultation to families, other service providers, and service coordinators regarding the communication functioning of children.
Effectively communicates assessment results, diagnoses, and strategies that are functional for the child's and family's routines and are consistent with a Primary Service Provider model.
Assists the EIE team with developing and implementing effective procedures for programs and services.
Assists in identifying needs for training and assists in the provision of training.
Works with supervisor to provide services that accommodate client needs and fulfill billable hours expectations as set by the department.
Works with supervisor to ensure that documentation is consistent with needs of funders.
Provides culturally responsive services to a diverse population.
Performs other clinical or administrative duties as assigned by supervisor.
Works collaboratively with other Transdisciplinary Team members to provide best practice services to infants and toddlers with developmental delays.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of children with developmental delays and disabilities.
Knowledge of Early Intervention systems at local, state and national levels, especially standards of practice
Ability to work well with complex family issues.
Ability to understand the needs of a range of disabilities.
Knowledge of life-span issues, including typical and atypical early human development.
Knowledge of family social, emotional, financial, psychological and cultural issues.
Knowledge of human behavior and performance, and individual differences in ability, personality, and interests.
Knowledge of communication development in infants and young children.
Knowledge of standards of care for toddlers and young children with autism.
Knowledge of ASHA standards of practice.
Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so that others will understand.
Skill in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking appropriate questions.
Organized and efficient in managing administrative tasks related to providing evaluation services.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in treating with infants, toddlers, and young children with developmental delays.
Experience in treating/evaluating young children with autism.
Master's Degree in Communication Disorders or related field.
Licensure to practice in the state of Colorado.
Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual, Spanish speaking
Five years of experience in treating infants and young children with developmental delays.
Proficiency in oral-motor and feeding evaluations and therapy
Evaluation, treatment and intervention of medically fragile infants or toddlers and experience with children referred from the NICU
Experience with assistive technology and augmentative communication
Experience in 3rd party reimbursement documentation and procedures
Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
Registered with the Early Intervention database
Registered and current with Committee for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH)
Current Medicaid license
