Clinical Evaluator (PRN - Hybrid)

Position Overview

Clinical Evaluators perform face-to-face clinical assessments of individuals with serious mental illness (SMI), intellectual disabilities (ID), or related conditions (RC) entering nursing homes. These Pre-Admission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) Level II evaluations usually take place in nursing home or hospital settings. Evaluators determine if individuals meet SMI or ID/RC criteria, assess their care needs, and offer recommendations for ongoing care.

Job Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

    • Conduct accurate evaluations and recommendations by thoroughly assessing patients, pertinent records, and external sources.
    • Recommend appropriate levels of care and service based on patients’ physical, behavioral, and psychological functions.
    • Complete assessments within designated timeframes and scopes to meet contractual obligations.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook is necessary, along with strong typing and computer skills.
    • Ensure compliance with program workflows and regulations.
    • Demonstrate clinical expertise and familiarity with psychiatric disorders based on current diagnostic manuals.
    • Knowledgeable about mental health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, geriatrics, and other long-term care service-related standards.
    • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, families, and community supports.
    • Perform person-centered assessments, delivering meaningful and suitable care level recommendations.
    • Communicate efficiently via spoken, written, and electronic mediums.
    • Possess attention to detail, prioritize effectively, and execute tasks promptly.
    • Familiarity with Federal Regulation 42 CFR, Chapter 483.
    • The list of accountabilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties that management may deem necessary from time to time.

Required Qualifications and Experience

What you’ll need:

  • Active unrestricted licensure in North Carolina in a healthcare field: Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Psychological Associate, or RN (with a master’s degree in Psychiatric Nursing or relevant field).
  • Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in mental illness.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with individuals having intellectual or developmental disabilities or related conditions.
  • Graduation from an accredited College with a relevant Degree Program.
  • A clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and reliable transportation within North Carolina.
  • Proficiency in medical records organization, medical terminology, and disease processes.
  • Required skills in medical record abstraction and strong clinical assessment and critical thinking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Flexibility and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet/web navigation.

Compensation

The compensation for this role is $34.00 to $39.00 per hour.

Based on our compensation program, an applicant’s position placement in the pay range will depend on various considerations, such as years of applicable experience and skill level. Thank you.
