The role you'll contribute:
Oversees site-based Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) program; monitors and maintains the timeliness of workflow, productivity, and quality of the site CDI program; develops and monitors implementation of site departmental goals/objectives and supports the performance improvement process in conjunction with the Division Director CDI; assists the Division Director CDI with development of site CDI budget and work plan.
The value you'll bring to the team:
• Ensures competency of Clinical Documentation Specialist staff by conducting on-going reviews and skills assessments; provides action plans and timely constructive feedback, as needed, to enhance staff development; leads hiring, training and performance management processes for all site-based CDI employees; coaches, mentors and empowers employees to complete tasks by providing information and support. Assists in the development of policies and procedures for the CDI program.
• Develops/utilizes educational programs to keep the Clinical Documentation Specialist/physicians/service lines/advisor up to date on regulatory changes and/or identified gaps pertaining to specified dx, topics, DRG's and denials.
• Acts as a direct contact for the Physician Documentation Improvement designee (physician advisor) and site administration.
• Develops ongoing documentation improvement education programs based on regulatory changes or updates and internal quality audits for site CDS.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed :
• RN/ASN
• Valid/current FL RN license.
• One year of experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist and/or Quality experience.
• Minimum of five years nursing experience in either Med/Surg or Critical care
• Achieves 70% or greater on annual Clinical Competency Assessment.
• CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist) within one year of acceptance of position or within 2 months of completing the 2-year CDS experience required to sit for the exam.
