Essential Job Functions

  • Supervises, trains, coaches, and evaluates the Behavioral Specialists.
  • Reviews and ensures consistency in all Behavioral Support Plans and associated tracking mechanisms.
  • Oversees the implementation and training of Behavior Support Plans.
  • Actively collaborates with Interdisciplinary Team to include psychiatrists, medical directors, healthcare professionals, administration, fiscal staff, and external behavioral support organizations to ensure best practices and holistic approach in providing clinical and emotional support to the individuals served.
  • Implements reliable data collection methods to report on behavioral progress.
  • Ensures all relevant documentation is compliant with regulatory/licensing agencies.
  • Attends bi-monthly Human Rights Committee meetings (HRC) and weekly Stand-Up meetings for organizational updates. Oversees HRC approvals.
  • Attends and participates in Management Committee Meetings as needed.
  • Provides 1:1 or group counseling sessions as needed.
  • Serves as a clinical supervisor/mentor for counselors in training.

Other Job Functions

  • Adheres to all policies, procedures, and training expectations of the Developmental Programs Division, as well as the requirements set forth by the Department of Health, Department of Public Welfare and their respective facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Master’s degree in a human services field is required. Licensed social worker or counselor highly preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience working with I/DD, with prior management experience desirable.
  • Experience with systems and processes for the billing of clinical services is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and uphold the organization’s Mission and Core Values.
  • Must be detail oriented, have good problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully pass and maintain acceptable background checks – FBI, PA Child Abuse, and PA State Police Criminal History.
  • A valid US Driver’s License is required. Attaining approved driver status for the organization is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position directly supervises the Behavior Specialists.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Working knowledge of computers and be willing to learn the software programs used by the State and other governing agencies (e.g., HCSIS, Enterprise Incident Management System) and internal systems (e.g., PointClickCare, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Work Environment:

This position will require some evening and weekend work to support volunteer activities and events.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work in a variety of settings and environments and has a low exposure risk to adverse weather conditions.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

In the event that unanticipated aggressive behavior manifests from individuals served and de-escalation techniques fail, physical crisis intervention may be required.

Must be available to work flexible hours and is expected to come in at various times depending upon workload and business needs.

Physical Demands:

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and rarely lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance. 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and sit.

Hazards:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may face low exposure risks to blood borne pathogens, with a low exposure risk to hazardous materials.
