Job Description
A Communications Supervisor in a clinical setting plays a pivotal role in managing communication activities between MedElite, providers and nursing facilities. The Clinical Communications Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all communication efforts within an administrative setting.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of communication professionals within clinical context in an administrative setting, provide guidance, set expectations, and evaluate performance to ensure smooth communication with Clinical staff at nursing facilities and Providers, including MDs, NPs, LPNs, RNs, etc..
- Develop and implement effective communication strategies specific to a clinical setting, considering the unique requirements of patient care, medical staff, and administrative teams.
- Develop and implement emergency communication protocols, ensuring that critical information reaches the appropriate individuals promptly during urgent situations.
- Ensure all qualified patients are included on the Resident Visit Lists for provider visits and any revisions requested by facilities and/or providers are notated accordingly.
- Ensure that all communication practices comply with relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and other privacy standards.
- Work closely and build rapport with clinical teams, administrators, schedulig and other departments to ensure consistent and effective communication across the organization.
- Track the effectiveness of communication initiatives in improving patient care, safety, and staff satisfaction. Continuously seek opportunities to enhance communication processes.
- Ensure that all team members are trained on and are familiar with basic medical terminology and have a clear understanding of departmental processes and communication rules.
- Assist with EMR access and facility emergency requests.
- Handle escalations.
- Provide daily, weekly and monthly reporting to management.
- Ability to travel at least once a month to facilities, including in other states.
Requirements:
- Clinical background is a must
- License Practical Nurse
- Ability to travel at least once a month to facilities, including in other states.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Previous experience in healthcare communications roles and demonstrated experience in team leadership is a must.
- A strong understanding of medical terminology and regulatory requirements
- Ability to manage sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations, including HIPPA.
