The Department of Early and Special Education at Boise State prepares teachers at the pre-service and in-service levels to more effectively serve all students from birth through 12th grade, with special emphasis on those students with disabilities. Minimum qualifications:
The successful candidate will have:
- An earned doctorate in Special Education or a closely related field (advanced ABD with a Ph.D. at the time of appointment will be considered)
- Experience and expertise supporting P-12 Special Education teachers in implementing evidence-based practices in the public school setting
- Experience and interest in supervising student teachers from all backgrounds
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching in higher education (e.g., peer evaluations, student evaluations, letter from supervising professor)
- Exemplify a diverse and inclusive approach to teaching, scholarship, and service.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with alternative course delivery systems and online instruction
- Experience with university assessment systems and meeting accreditation standards
- Experience with recruitment for Special Education programs
- Program leadership that involves developing networks and relationships with school communities
- Experience with supervision of student teachers
- P-12 teaching experience and proficiency working with diverse populations and a range of disabilities
- A focus on teaching at least one content area (reading, writing, math) to individuals with disabilities or at-risk for developing a disability. This includes expertise with regard to identification, intervention, and ongoing assessment.
- Strong interest in directly supporting Special Education teacher candidates from all backgrounds.

Salary and benefits:
Salary of $70,000 is commensurate with rank and experience (9-month contract).
