Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor, the Clinical and Lab Assistant serves as Clinical and Lab support staff for the office. Performs a variety of activities to support clinical operations and clean/dirty lab functions. Training is provided.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works in lab to manage Clean/Dirty activities including: Cleaning/sterilization of instruments, packing instruments, stocking lab supplies, Ultrasonic cleaning and maintenance, Autoclave cleaning and maintenance, checking eyewash station, cleaning lab countertops, checking stock of sterile supplies
- Clinical support functions such as putting away supply orders, filling syringes, stocking the blanket warmer, changing laundry bags, checking sharps containers, checking for expired products, stocking supplies, organizing and updating inventory of samples in sample closet
- Prepares examination rooms for patient visits, including cleaning and sanitizing surfaces
- May be trained to escort patients to exam rooms and assists in obtaining pertinent information, which may include obtaining vital signs, weight, height, health history, chief complaint and symptoms.
- Other duties to support the practice, as assigned
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must have the ability to plan, organize, and work independently; exhibits problem-solving skills.
- Able to develop professional rapport with employees at all levels of the practice.
- Practices OSHA safety standards and complies with HIPAA at all times.
EDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
- High School diploma or GED
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Activities include holding, carrying, pushing, transferring, and pulling or objects and people safely.
- Manual and finger dexterity, handle or feel, hand-eye coordination, bending, kneeling, crouching, frequent sitting, walking and/or standing for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to safely lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed in conditions common to the clinic environment including communicable disease, blood borne pathogens, ionizing radiation, bodily fluids and toxic substances, hazardous materials.
- Fast-paced medical office environment involving contact and interaction with patients, physicians, and other Clinical and non-clinical personnel.
- May require periodic travel to OD clinical sites.
