Responsibilities:
Site Duties:
- Oversees day-to-day operations to drive productivity
- Effectively delegates duties
- Resolves conflict amongst team members
- Guides and directs clerical and clinical team members
- Conducts routine meetings / huddles to maintain open communication amongst all site specific team members / departments
- Sets performance goals for their assigned practice location
- Identifies and effectively addresses areas in need of improvement
- Assists department managers with performance reviews and disciplinary actions
- Assists department managers with interviewing candidates
- Builds professional and respectful relationships with team members
- Serves as the first point of contact for the assigned practice location
- Provides managers with information to make necessary adjustments to work processes.
- Works with other Site Supervisors and ancillary department leaders to ensure appropriate staffing levels in all areas of the assigned practice location.
- Receives training to ensure a working knowledge of all clerical functions within the practice
- Ensures daily patient schedules for all providers within assigned practice location are fully optimized
- Exercises time management skills to allow filling in the front and back office as necessary while allowing adequate administrative time
- Reviews and approves or denies employee time off requests
- Routinely reviews employee tim cards to minimize the use of overtime
- Tracks and documents assigned employee attendance points
- Inventories / orders supplies to ensure the practice maintains adequate stock
- Monitors and reports housekeeping or building maintenance issues to maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for team members and the patients we serve
- Ensures all new hires receive comprehensive training and orientation to their respective roles
- Addresses and works to resolve patient concerns / complaints that originate from assigned practice location
Clinical Duties
- Taking medical histories
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Preparing patients for examination
- Assisting the physician during exams
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
- Performing basic laboratory tests
- Instructing patients about medication and special diets
- Preparing and administering medications as directed by a physician
- Authorizing prescription refills as directed
- Removing sutures and changing dressings
Clerical Duties (as needed)
- Using computer applications
- Answering telephones
- Greeting patients
- Updating and filing patient medical records
- Coding and filling out insurance forms
- Scheduling appointments
- Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services
- Handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a High school diploma and/or technical school certificate or associate degree in medical assisting preferred.
- 5 years of clinical experience is required.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and physicians.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical insurance policies, and billing procedures.
- Ability to operate medical office equipment and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
CERTIFICATION:
- Registered or Certified Medical Assistant
- Basic Life Support Certification
