PR and Marketing Coordinator
About the PositionThis position is focused on supporting and providing services to the graduates in the region and requires a strong background and understanding of multiple disabilities, canine training, and evaluation as well as interpersonal and organizational skills.
A typical day as a Program Manager – Graduate Services may include:
- Coordinate graduate program activities with Regional Directors, Regional Program Managers, National Development staff, Instructors and Apprentice Instructors to ensure overall program cohesiveness.
- Graduate Program: Responsible for prioritizing, coordinating, scheduling, and conducting graduate follow-up visits to ensure the safety and success of canine-graduate teams. Duties include:
- Ability to interact with and instruct persons with a disability.
- Manage and support graduate teams (Approx. 200+).
- Monitor public access expirations and provide opportunities for graduates to renew certification.
- Provide timely phone and email support as needed to graduates.
- Organize and administrate yearly graduate seminar.
- Provide solutions and problem-solving techniques to graduates whose dogs are displaying behavior or training problems.
- Assist graduates with decision to retire dogs and application for successor dog.
- Monitor and ensure an adequate supply of graduate equipment.
- Organize and administrate detailed record keeping.
- Prepare Program Database and Discoverer reports.
- Train Apprentice Instructors how to organize and conduct follow-up visits.
- Assist applicant program with in-home applicant personal interviews while conducting follow-up visits.
- Conduct applicant outreach as needed and directed.
- Student/Team Training Program: Requires knowledge of placing canine with disabled students, as well as the knowledge of canine behavior, temperament, and health. Must understand company policies and procedures to:
- Assist applicant program coordinator when inviting applicants to class based on fair and appropriate methods.
- Assist with student instruction at team training and develop adequate team training follow-up.
- Organize and conduct side-placements.
- Instructor duties include:
- Ability to train dogs to high task capacity.
- Ability to instruct Team Training students the concepts and skills required to work with trained canines using directive techniques.
- Ability to assess and evaluate placement success.
- Serve and act as a role model and mentor to apprentice instructors.
- Participate in meetings with supervisors and regional participant staff to develop and coordinate program developments with company goals and objectives.
EXPECTATIONS:
To be successful in this position:
MUST HAVES:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of canine behavior, temperament and health.
- Able to travel for follow-ups, multiple times a year.
- Able to use word processing and spreadsheet programs such as Word and Excel.
- Able to communicate and coordinate with staff, students, volunteers, graduates, and clientele.
NICE TO HAVES:
- Experience with dog training and animal health, teaching, public speaking, and disability awareness and sensitivity.
- Canine Companions Instructor or Canine Companions Apprentice III or equivalent
Schedule: Full - Time
Pay: $67,000 - $69,000 per year
The base salary range above represents the range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of total compensation package for employees.
