ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Reliable, consistent, on-site attendance is a requirement. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance to meet the needs of the business, including attending and participating in meetings and presentations.
- Learn and understand guidelines from Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) to better support The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and Houston Food Bank (HFB) requirements.
- Process clients to receive Target Hunger Services by 1) verifying their application through the Apricot database program; 2) checking program status; 3) re-certifying existing clients; 4) enrolling new participants according to income guidelines. Once clients are approved, provide Services to eligible participants; and if not approved or ineligible, refer to alternative programs and services.
- Maintain appropriate recordkeeping documentation for compliance with TDA, HFB and agency regulations and assisting with internal or external audits
- Assist with Food Fair Distributions by completing client intake to families who drive-thru or walk up to site.
- Assist with Monthly distribution by completing client intake to families who drive-thru or walk up to a site.
- Maintain a positive and supportive attitude and disposition with clients, staff and volunteers at all times both during pantry service and after hours.
- Organize facilitation of serving clients in vehicles through the drive-thru distribution lines to keep events running smoothly.
- Must have access to reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and insurance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two (2) years of customer service and clerical experience required.
Computer Skills
- Strong computer competency with proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excell, Access, G-Suite)
- Knowledge of Client Database a plus; ability to learn required.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (phone system, copier, fax, etc.)
Communication Skills
- Bilingual in Spanish required.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills displayed to clients, teammates, and leadership.
- Excellent customer service during events, including when/if client issues arise.
Organizational Skills
- Excellent Organizational and time-management skills and heightened ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, as well as on a team.
