Job description

Kraken is the technology tentacle of the Octopus Energy Group.

Kraken Technologies is a company within the Octopus Energy Group which licences the Kraken software and its associated operating model to clients. Current clients are both the Octopus Energy Retail businesses around the world as well as external energy clients such as Good Energy, Origin, EDF, E.ON , Eni Plenitude & Queensland Energy - with many more expected to join over the next few years!

We have been licensing Kraken for over 3 years now, transforming businesses by not only moving their customer base to our Kraken platform but also changing their operating model & ways of working. This role is an implementation role, implementing the Kraken Operating Model and ways of working within a client organisation. This role will support the client organisation standing up their operation, from scratch, within the universal agent Kraken operating model. As part of your role you will be supporting the client with setting up recruitment, operational processes, cultural ways of working, leadership development and practical tools for managing within the model.

Please note: this role will require regular (sometimes weekly) travel to Paris. You can be either based in the UK or France.

What you'll do
    • Coaching team leaders on how to manage within the model. Supporting them with their day to day
    • Be champions of the Kraken model and way of working. Unrelenting enthusiasm for the model and the benefits of it
    • Set up key operational processes within the client for example but not limited to; scheduling, skills academy, functional processes eg billing
    • Deliver leadership development programs to team members within the client
    • Deliver skills academy training
    • Be available for what the client needs in order to be successful
    • Giving feedback to stakeholders where appropriate around the model and behaviours that you are seeing
    • Steering operational management through decision making and to reflect on how they want to be as an organisation
    • Building out training material for the client and the global implementation team
    • Delivering training material in the native language of the client
    • Deliver and build train the trainer programs
    • Shadowing and supporting new trainers by giving them feedback and helping build material for them
    • Coaching stakeholders on how to structure their L&D team that aligns to the model
What you'll need
    • Languages: you must be able to speak fluent French and English
    • Communication: You need to be confident in calling out approaches that aren't best for the customer and always striving for simplicity.  You need to be able to positively communicate where clients are making decisions that are not the Kraken way and the possible consequences, in a professional and supportive way
    • Patience:  Within Kraken Tech we are working with clients who are under-going  significant change which takes time.  You need to be  patient  with explanations and supportive of what the client needs to change. This extends to the internal development within Kraken Tech. We never know for sure what the next couple of weeks/months/years look like but we know it's going to be epic. It's important to be ready at all times
    • Comfortable with change: The clients we work with are undertaking a big change and they will often be nervous about this. For us to do our jobs it's essential that we are comfortable with change. Everyone on the team needs to be ready to run 20 mph in one direction then 20 mph in another if a circumstance calls for it. This includes internal movement, travel and client strategy
    • Curiosity and initiative:  If you have an eye for detail, enjoy self learning and aren't afraid to "try and see" then this is the job for you. Supported by a fab team this is an independent role where success relies on you trusting your gut and taking initiative
    • Influence: You'll find a need to have a voice that can help create change in those that are resistant. Are you able to build trustworthy relationships rapidly? How do you utilise that relationship? What do you do to build that quickly? The ability to build strong relationships is essential to this role
Why else you'll love about us
    • Wondering what the salary for this role is? Just ask us! On a call with one of our recruiters it's something we always cover as we genuinely want to match your experience with the correct salary. The reason why we don't advertise is because we honestly have a degree of flexibility and would never want salary to be a reason why someone doesn't apply to Octopus - what's more important to us is finding the right octofit!
    • Octopus Energy is a unique culture. An organisation where people learn, decide, and build quicker. Where people work with autonomy, alongside a wide range of amazing co-owners, on projects that break new ground. We want your hard work to be rewarded with perks you actually care about! We won best company to work for in 2022, on Glassdoor we we're voted 50 best places to work in 2022 and our Group CEO, Greg has recorded a podcast about our culture and how we empower our people
    • Visit our perks hub - Octopus Employee Benefits

If this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you.

Studies have shown that some groups of people, like women, are less likely to apply to a role unless they meet 100% of the job requirements. Whoever you are, if you like one of our jobs, we encourage you to apply as you might just be the candidate we hire. Across Octopus, we're looking for genuinely decent people who are honest and empathetic. Our people are our strongest asset and the unique skills and perspectives people bring to the team are the driving force of our success. As an equal opportunity employer, we do not discriminate on the basis of any protected attribute. Our commitment is to provide equal opportunities, an inclusive work environment, and fairness for everyone.
