Claims Subrogation Specialist

Midwest Family Mutual is a 24-state regional property/casualty insurance company seeking an experienced Subrogation Specialist responsible for the identification and collection of monies owed by individuals and insurance carriers on specified claims. Qualified candidates will have 3+ years of subrogation/recovery experience in multiple jurisdictions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Evaluate facts, evidence, liability, damages, and other factors in order to maximize the subrogation recoveries
• Manage the pursuit, negotiations and recovery of subrogation with responsible parties in order to optimize the amount of recovery and minimize the amount of time and expense invested to make the recoveries
• Identify, assign and monitor vendor resources related to subrogation activities
• Track, monitor and report on company subrogation recoveries
• Be a positive team player and work closely with other adjusters as needed to result in the optimal claims recoveries
• Provide subrogation education to the claims department personnel
• Maintain continual relationships with customers, business partners, peers and management while providing excellent customer service and focusing on timely and meaningful information exchanges

Skills/experience:

Preferred Formal Education -

• At least 3 years equivalent work experience in subrogation, multiple jurisdictions
• AIC, CPCU or other Insurance-related designations
• College education preferred

Knowledge & Experience -

• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Proficient with MS office, specifically Word and Excel
• Ability to prioritize workload and handle multiple competing work requests
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a work-from-home environment.

Work conditions:

• Midwest Family is a work from home environment. Applicant must have sufficient space for an at-home office and high-speed internet is a requirement.
• Ability to work a 40-hour week, 8 hour days, 5 days per week, with potential overtime during periods of heavy claim volume
• This position requires dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other devices.
• Applicant must be physically able to travel when necessary to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
