In this position the Claims Assistant will support Berkley Alliance Manager’s Claims Team with various tasks relating to operational and administrative support. At Berkley Alliance Managers, we offer innovative coverage and risk management solutions for our brokers and policyholders. Our business consists of four target markets – Design Professionals, Construction Professionals, Accounting Professionals and Miscellaneous Service Professionals. Our focus allows us to tailor coverage and create comprehensive risk management programs that enhance profitability and reduce susceptibility to loss.
Key functions include but are not limited to:
Claims Support
- Process First Notice of Loss throughout the day and set-up in Odyssey the claims administration system.
- Handle State required reporting to comply with Child Support Lien Laws.
- Process Claim letters according to documented workflow.
- Process attorney payments, overnight payments, and other vendor payments, including issuing letters when required.
- Maintain various Claims reports.
- Verifying open claims on the Quarterly Large Loss Review report
- Reconcile payments each month with the payment vendor Bottomline against our internal database.
- Maintain Trial Calendar of upcoming trial dates- remind adjusters to release pre-trial reports.
General Operations Support
- Subject matter expert for operational workflows and system enhancement/problems
- Actively participate in all company innovation meetings and activities
- Handle Certified Mail
- High School diploma required.
- Excellent computer skills with solid knowledge of MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel and working knowledge of PowerPoint.
- Previous Claims Assistant experience highly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High degree of attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively independently and within a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritize.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/duties simultaneously.
- Enthusiastic team member with a positive personal presence
- Ability to learn company claim and underwriting administrative systems as well as various other software programs.
- Normal working office conditions, required hours 9-5
