Position Overview:

The Casualty Claims Representative 2 position is an essential part of our team, managing more complex injury and damage portions of claims for Auto, Home and Farm. Incumbents provide the support our customers need, while ensuring claims are resolved swiftly. Casualty Claims Reps analyze and determine the extent of Grange Insurance Association’s Coverage and Liability concerning loss and damages on a claim.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):

  • Interpret policies and analyze details gathered to determine the best course of action
  • Prioritize contact of various parties associated with the claim, ensuring efficiency
  • Gather details on status and treatment needed of those injured in an accident
  • Determine liability
  • Evaluate and settle bodily injury and general liability claims
  • Negotiate with customers, attorneys and other insurance carriers
  • Ability to work in a hybrid working environment, with 2 days in the office
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of P&C Casualty Claims work experience; experience may substitute for education
  • Experience and ability to make decisions, problem solve, plan, prioritize and organize
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Proven knowledge of insurance contracts, medical terminology and legal aspects of court procedures affecting legal liability for all lines of insurance.
  • Proven analytical skills necessary to make decisions and resolve conflict in such areas as application of coverage to submitted claims, application of laws of jurisdiction to investigation facts, application of policy exclusions and exceptions
  • Excellent customer service skills including written and verbal communication skills necessary to effectively communicate and/or negotiate with policy holders, claimants, attorneys, agents and the general public.
