Job Summary
The Civil Design Engineer will be responsible for Civil engineering calculation and design, drawing review and preparation with the support of the drafting team. They are responsible for managing the organization's CAD systems, ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of design processes, and leading a team of CAD technicians and designers. The role involves developing and implementing CAD standards, training staff, and collaborating with other departments to support the organization's design and engineering projects.

This position is a Hybrid in-office role in our Westminster, CO headquarters. The expectation is that you are in-office Tuesday, Wednedsay, and Thursday with Monday and Friday remote.
- Uses and directs the use of computer-aided design, drafting systems, and computer programs
- Executes QA/QC plans for the team
- Track the progress of deliverables, client reviews and technical input
- Conceptualize and prepare plans, layouts, sections, details, and bills of materials to convey construction or fabrication requirements accurately
- Elevates the level of technical expertise within the team through technical design mentoring and training
- Leads the effort for putting together technical resources for the team and its projects
- May supervise/direct professionals and technical staff in the design approach to meet other project requirements
- Trains others in the performance of the job duties
- Promotes efficiencies in producing quality work.
- Adherence to the department's design standards and assisting others in ensuring compliance in the designs and updating them as required.
- Maintains quality control and adequately checks plans
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibilities and requirements of the job
Basic Qualifications
- Strong communication skills.
- BS Degree in Civil Engineering
- Strong CAD/Design Software (MicroStation, GeoPak, AutoCAD) Experience.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Intimate knowledge of AutoCAD LT Software including the creation of blocks, pen tables, and templates
- Proficient with the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D for generating existing and proposed cross sections and profiles from topography
- Experience producing and manipulating topo surfaces from point clouds produced with lidar or photogrammetric methods
- Ability to work with shifting demands and balance priorities from multiple stakeholders
- Ability to work with the engineering team to create, implement, and enforce standards related to CAD
- Ability to onboard, develop, and supervise CAD technicians
