We are looking to add a Cisco Voice Network Engineer with a strong Cisco background. The tasks will include everything from building/implementing and upgrading the Cisco Voice environment. We're seeking an experienced candidate with at least 4+ years working with Cisco Unified Communications, UCCX, Expressways, Cisco Unity, and Jabber. The Cisco Voice Engineer will serve as an engineering resource for implementation of Cisco voice solutions and integration activities in accordance with adopted best practices. Responsibilities will be centered around regional systems in support of the overall enterprise system design.
What You'll Own
Voice Engineering

  • Provide input towards Cisco voice strategy and roadmap development
  • Focus on implementation of newly defined or existing solutions according to approved designs
  • Serve as a technical escalation resource during system downtimes or when addressing regional system impacts
  • Identify optimization opportunities and drive service improvements leveraging root-cause analysis
  • Act as a peer reviewer for change controls involving applicable regional systems
  • Execute test procedures and validate features and functionality for system upgrades and changes
  • Act as a subject matter expert for their regional systems
  • Work collaboratively with IT Peer groups to ensure system implementation is conducted within standard operating procedures.

  • Participate as a technical lead in the implementation of defined solutions, product upgrades, or medium impact changes within applicable region
  • Serve as a technical resource for Cisco Administrators for incident management and customer issue resolution.

Requirements
Required Skills
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with Cisco Unified Communications product suite in a larger enterprise setting including Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Unity Connection, Unified Presence, Cisco Unified Contact Center Express, Cisco Voice Gateways ( PRI, CAS, FXO,FXS), Cisco Unified Communication Manager Express/Unity Express, Expressway, MRA, TMS/TMS-XE/Conductor/Telepresence Servers, IX/DX/SX video endpoints, WebEx/Jabber/Spark
  • Experience with Legacy Nortel, Avaya, PBX and Key Systems, Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory
  • Experience doing Cisco Collaboration deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting
  • Hands- on knowledge and experience in routing protocols like BGP4, OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, Ethernet Switching, and multiple layers (1-2 protocols) like Frame Relay, HDLC, or PPP will be helpful
  • Knowledgeable in IP Networking, enterprise voice solutions, VoIP technology, IPsec, TDM Voice, VoIP CPE, soft Switches, Session Border Controllers, Routers, and Firewalls
  • Work well with other team members in a collaborative manner, fostering learning and knowledge sharing to complete projects and equally be able to work with limited supervision and project oversight
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

Certifications & Education
  • CCNA / Voice Collaboration
  • CCNP / Voice Collaboration preferred
  • CCIE Voice / Collaboration and/or CCDE preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

What To Expect
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds; with some installations requiring multiple personnel and coordination. Ability to climb up and down ladders. Office environments could require prolonged sitting at a desk and using a computer and the ability to work in an office with other employees.
Travel: 25-35% onsite customer travel required. Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and ability to legally operate a motor vehicle. When not at customer sites, employee is expected to work in the Baton Rouge office.
