Job Description:

As a Circulator RN in our dynamic healthcare environment, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless flow of patient care throughout the perioperative process. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of perioperative duties, from preoperative preparation to postoperative care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan of Care Intervention:

  • Administer medications, collect specimens, and provide clinical treatments as part of the patient's plan of care.

• Documentation:

  • Accurately document patient care activities to maintain comprehensive medical records.

• Monitoring and Communication:

  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.

• Surgical Asepsis and Sterile Technique:

  • Ensure adherence to surgical asepsis and sterile technique, preparing and positioning patients for procedures.

  • Validate and ensure the presence of all required equipment, supplies, and instrumentation before procedures.

• Patient Coordination:

  • Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and addressing spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

• Patient and Family Education:

  • Evaluate learning needs and provide education to patients and families throughout the perioperative process, considering age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

• Advocacy:

  • Act as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

• Intraoperative Care:

  • Assess and care for surgical patients throughout the intraoperative process.

  • Assist with preoperative preparation and postoperative care.

• Equipment Operation and Safety:

  • Operate specialized equipment for procedures while maintaining a safe surgical environment.

Qualifications:

• Circulator Experience:

  • Will only interview RNs with circulator experience.

• Education:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required, validated by an active Kentucky RN license.

• Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days.

• Availability:

  • Must be able to take call.
