Job Description:
As a Circulator RN in our dynamic healthcare environment, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless flow of patient care throughout the perioperative process. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of perioperative duties, from preoperative preparation to postoperative care.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan of Care Intervention:
Administer medications, collect specimens, and provide clinical treatments as part of the patient's plan of care.
Documentation:
Accurately document patient care activities to maintain comprehensive medical records.
Monitoring and Communication:
Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
Surgical Asepsis and Sterile Technique:
Ensure adherence to surgical asepsis and sterile technique, preparing and positioning patients for procedures.
Validate and ensure the presence of all required equipment, supplies, and instrumentation before procedures.
Patient Coordination:
Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and addressing spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Patient and Family Education:
Evaluate learning needs and provide education to patients and families throughout the perioperative process, considering age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Advocacy:
Act as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Intraoperative Care:
Assess and care for surgical patients throughout the intraoperative process.
Assist with preoperative preparation and postoperative care.
Equipment Operation and Safety:
Operate specialized equipment for procedures while maintaining a safe surgical environment.
Qualifications:
Circulator Experience:
Will only interview RNs with circulator experience.
Education:
Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required, validated by an active Kentucky RN license.
Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days.
Availability:
Must be able to take call.
