GAP Ministries is hiring staff for our 8 family-style homes in Northwest Tucson where we care for children and teens placed in foster care. Group Home Professionals provide direct care and provide a safe, Christ-centered temporary home for children in foster care. They are part of a larger Christ-centered team with high expectations for biblical character and values focused on creating and modeling for children in care and for all staff love, hope and peace.
Schedule: This opportunity is available both Full-Time and Part-Time. Overnight typically 10PM to 9AM. GAP Ministries understands the need for work and personal life balance and is willing to consider aligning these needs with the needs of the children's care
Pay: Experience and education are rewarded with a higher pay amount (DOEE).

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
- Provide direct care to hurting and traumatized children and youth kiddos by assisting in daily activities while maintaining a safe, orderly, and caring environment
- Participate in relationship building activities with kiddos
- Recognize and react appropriately to kiddos displaying aggressive behavior, acting as a danger to themselves or others, or are in a crisis or medical emergency
- Provide and record children's medications
- Report observations (good and challenges) according to facility policy and procedure
- Perform house cleaning tasks
- Be receptive to guidance and direction from Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be physically fit to perform job duties. Be emotionally able to display warmth and able to enjoy and be comfortable with active, often aggressive and disorganized children in an intimate, integrated living situation.
- Proficient in the use of a personal computer and corresponding programs.
- Be able to respect and work cooperatively with a variety of persons.
- Able to work well with ever changing priorities and or situations. Have the ability to stay calm in tense situations and utilize common sense and logic.
REQUIREMENTS PROVIDED BY GAP MINISTRIES WHEN HIRED:
- FBI fingerprint clearance check and procure a Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- CPR, AED & First Aid Certification
- De-escalation Certification
- Tuberculosis (TB) screen, Drug screen, physical examination (fit for duty).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 22 years old to drive company 15 passenger van
- At least a high school diploma or equivalency diploma (GED)
- Able to demonstrate at least 1 year of successfully working with children and/or youth
- Successful clearance of Criminal Background Check(s), Central Registry in Arizona and any state(s) lived in within 5 years of hire
- Valid driver license and a good 5 year driving record to drive 15 passenger van
- Have manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills and be able to perform various physical tasks and drive vehicles
This is a safety sensitive position. GAP Ministries is a drug-free workplace and requires drug screening of all new employees as well as random screenings to ensure enforcement of this policy.
*Hiring Incentive Bonus Details: Bonus will be distributed as follows: 40% after successful* completion of training or 90 days; remaining balance paid over next 3 months.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATIONGAP Ministries, a faith-based ministry standing in the GAP for those in need in three core areas: Children, Family, and Community. GAP has been serving Southern Arizona since 1999.CHILDREN - GAP Ministries began by caring for foster children in the home of our founders, and that aspect of the ministry has grown over the years, depending on the need, from 9-14 family model group homes where the love of God is shared with the children and teens each day. GAP also licenses and trains individuals and couples to care for foster children to increase the number of homes where these children can live and thrive while away from their own family.
FAMILY - Children are at the heart of GAP, but if we continually care for abused and neglected children but never help their families, it becomes a never-ending cycle. If we can begin to heal these families we can change the direction of their lives and generationally impact them going forward. To heal the root causes of the foster care crisis, GAP has programs to provide supervised visitation and parent aid for the birth parents. It is our desire and goal to see healthy restoration of families when possible
COMMUNITY - Breaking cycles of poverty and creating transformed communities. Tucson is a beautiful city, but unfortunately there are many children, women, and men who are really struggling. One in four of our residents are below the poverty line. GAP's Community Warehouse reclaims food and new items from major retailers that would otherwise end up in landfills, and redistributes them to individuals in need through nonprofit partnerships.
