These are often youth with special needs and circumstances. GuidePost is seeking to hire Specialized Caregivers who will plan and facilitate activities and work with other members of the team to provide a safe, healthy living situation.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Carry out the daily schedule of the youth in their care.
  • Provide or arrange transportation for the youth when needed.
  • Provide a safe and supervised living environment for the youth.
  • Prepare regular and nutritious meals.
  • Perform routine housekeeping and occasional deep cleaning of the facility.
  • Document youth self-administration of medications
  • Maintain the documentation of daily activities, incidents, and maintenance requests.
  • Have a working knowledge of all current policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of emergency and disaster procedures.
  • Ability to comply with all safety related policies and procedures (ex. infection control procedures, applications of universal precautions for blood-borne pathogens, use of personal protective equipment, handling of hazardous materials, emergency drills, etc.).
  • Report to their direct supervisor and receive trainings as needed.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Desire to work with youth, to learn about residential treatment facilities and the programs in place for the youth.
  • CPR/1st Aid Certifications, Assistance with Medication Certification, and restraint training (MANDT, CPI, etc.)
  • Valid Idaho driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to clear and Enhanced background checks through the Department of Health and Welfare.
  • Familiar with safety concerns in a youth-based facility, with how to assist in physical or verbal altercations, and with managing emergency situations.
  • Ability to build working relationships with professionals and community members.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor through verbal or written medium.
  • Follow written and verbal directions.
  • Maintain personal compliance on all required trainings
  • Be passionate about working directly with youth who have developmental disabilities and experienced trauma.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sufficient strength and mobility to move freely to assure safety of others.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
  • Prolonged periods of standing while working with the youth.
  • Multiple trips up and down stairs while at work.
  • Interact with youth at play in the community or facility
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. at times.
  • Must be able to have the strength to help a youth move from danger if necessary.
  • Strength to intervene during behaviors.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
