POSITION SUMMARY:
The Child Watch Attendant is responsible for supervision and interaction of children age 6 Months to 11 years old while under the care of the Child Care department. The Robert K. Fox Family YMCA is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the Y’s core values - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises and interacts with children in the Child Watch area in a safe and professional manner.
- Ensures all children are registered and signed in/out by parent and/or guardian.
- Ensures the Child Watch area is maintained in a clean, safe and serviceable environment; notifies supervisor of any deficiencies.
- Must be able to follow appropriate records for Child Watch area including enrollment, attendance, and special handling instructions.
- Take all reasonable measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children in Child Watch.
- Follows all Y policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides supervision to infants, toddlers, preschoolers and/or school age children in a safe & fun environment while their parents are using the YMCA facility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); must be at least 18 years of age.
- Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
- Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
- Must obtain and keep current in first aid & CPR as determined by supervisor.
- Recommended trainings include: communicable disease, child abuse recognition and child development.
10-29hrs/week
