Child Protective Service Worker (Crisis Team) - BSSC124024
General Description:
This position is a crisis worker in the southern part of the state. To qualify for the Crisis Team, the applicant must have two (2) years of experience as a Child Protective Service (CPS) Worker. A 20% salaryincentive is offered for any candidate selected for the time period they remain on the team, due to thenature of the job which may require extensive travel and stays out of their home county. The worker conducts CPS investigations/assessments concerning allegations of child abuse/neglect in any District/County in the State as part of the crisis response to that District when the workload in the District cannot be completed by current staff. The worker will complete an initial assessment by gathering information from appropriate persons such as child victims, parents, law enforcement, neighbors, schools, medical personnel, and other appropriate individuals. It may be necessary to complete safety plans to control the safety of the child and to file petitions and testify in court regarding child abuse/neglect of a child/children. Additional CPS duties may be assigned, including ongoing case management. This position requires statewide travel and availability of a personal vehicle. This positionmay be housed in, or serve in, any of the following counties: Boone; Cabell; Calhoun; Fayette;Greenbrier; Jackson; Kanawha; Lincoln; Logan; McDowell; Mason; Mercer; Mingo; Monroe; Nicholas;Pocahontas; Putnam; Raleigh; Roane; Summers; Wayne; or Wyoming.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: None
Special Requirements: Valid driver's license. Accessibility to a phone.
Note: At the appointing agency’s discretion, competitive applicants may receive probationary appointment pending official verification of the qualifying training, examination or certification. Applicants may be appointed for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days from date of hire pending verification of licensure. Applicants must agree in writing to verify licensure within sixty (60) days andpass the competency exam after pre-service training or be dismissed. Employees working under this restriction shall not perform any social work duties until the license is verified.
