Job Description:PRN position at Primary Children's at Riverton located in Riverton, UTInteracts directly with pediatric patients, families and other health team members, facilitates age-appropriate interactions and activities to help make the health care experience easier for patients/families, reduces patient/family distress, increases effective patient/family coping, and fosters patient independence and promotes optimum development. Also provides supervision to interns, mentors staff, and coordinates community outreach and Foundation partnerships.Posting Specifics* Pay Rate: Based on Experience.* Benefits Eligible: This position is NOT eligible for Health / Medical Insurance* Shift Details: Variable - Days, Evenings, Weekends and Holidays* Unit/Location: May be scheduled at 6 facilities* Additional Details: Shift differentials given for evenings, nights and weekendsJob Essentials* Accurately assesses, prioritizes, and documents pediatric patient and family care.* Develops, implements, and evaluates effective pediatric patient and family centered health care plans.* Provides developmentally-appropriate education, psychological procedural preparation, coping support, comfort management, and play opportunities, to pediatric patients and families.* Participates in selection, supervision, training of practicum students and volunteers.* Assists with orienting, training and mentoring new employees.* Participates in selecting, orienting, supervising, and evaluating interns.* Participates as a coach in hospital initiatives.* Provides education to staff (e.g., in-services, newsletter articles, etc.).* Assists with community outreach and Foundation partnerships.Minimum Qualifications* Bachelor's degree. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution.

Degree will be verified.* Child Life Certification from Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP) or eligible for Child Life Certification (to be obtained within 6 months of hire date). A 600-hour Child Life Internship must be completed to be eligible for certification.* Two years (4000 hours) of clinical Child Life experience.* Computer experience in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases or similar applications.* Experience in Child Life Core Competencies which include but are not limited to: 1) Establishing supportive relationships 2) Meeting needs of child and family members, with a focus on social, emotional, and cognitive development. 3) Providing education to and communicating with children, families and team members 4) Providing coping support and comfort management 5) Guiding children in therapeutic play techniques 6) Ongoing assessment and written documentation of clinical care 7) Mentoring, supervision, and coaching staff and students 8) Providing bereavement and end of life support.* Successfully completed a 600-hour Child Life internship with completion documentation.Preferred Qualifications* Master's degree.* Spanish Speaking.Physical Requirements:Carrying, Hearing/Listening, Lifting, Manual Dexterity, Pushing/Pulling, Seeing, Speaking, Squatting/Kneeling, Standing, Walking.Anticipated job posting close date:11/30/2023Location:American Fork Hospital, Intermountain Health Riverton Hospital, McKay-Dee Hospital, Primary Childrens at Riverton, Primary Childrens Hospital, St George Regional Hospital, Utah Valley HospitalWork City:RivertonWork State:UtahScheduled Weekly Hours:0The hourly range for this position is listed below.
