Job description

This position is responsible for supporting Child Protective Service (CPS) social workers with day-to-day case management tasks to help maintain child safety. This position will supervise and observe parent/child interactions during times identified by the safety plan created by the social worker or supervisor and will follow the plan and intervene as deemed necessary. This includes the ability to de-escalate situations and shield children in the home from unsafe circumstances.

Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Provide safety service checks and in-home observation of children while with their family where safety concerns have been identified.
Provide drug screens on consumers with targeted support safety services or ongoing services.
Provide transportation for consumers who have children in out-of-home care.
Assist families in remedying identified safety concerns in the home as directed by the case manager.
Manage present danger threats during all scheduled interaction and report observed threats to the assigned social worker or supervisor immediately before leaving the home.
Attend family team meetings and staffings.
Document clearly and thoroughly all concerns and strengths observed, in case notes for each consumer in eWisacwis within required timelines.
Attend trainings related to the job position such as safety for non-CPS, crisis de-escalation, mental health topics, medical issues, etc.
Demonstrate a commitment to county safety and risk management efforts.

Education and/or Experience
Associates degree in Human Services field or current enrollment in an accredited university program with a social work major or related field and zero to six month of prior relevant experience. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care principles is essential.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Wisconsin driver's license.
Proof of minimum liability auto insurance coverage.
Must be able to provide a reliable personal vehicle to be used for business travel on a daily basis.

This position has authority to make decisions that are within general procedures and protocols; supervision is available as required or requested.
