The Child Development Teacher Aidewill be primarily responsible for providing floating support to classroom teachers by assisting with instruction and clerical tasks. Responsibilities may include working with students who need additional instruction, preparing materials and equipment for activities, and contributing to discussions on students' progress with their teacher at the Early Head Start (EHS) center. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, and comfortable childcare space that is conducive to quality parent/child interactions and exceptional educational experiences.
Responsibilities
- Assist Child Development Teacher (CD Teacher) with interacting and engaging with children through play, age appropriate activities, and modeling.
- Participate and assist in implementing parent-child attachment interventions (e.g., A Good Good-Bye, Family Tradition Groups, etc.).
- Assist with meal prep, laundry, to and breakfast count for assigned children at the center.
- Assist in planning and implementing daily parent/child activities to assigned classroom.
- Assist the teaching team members as needed with various child-care tasks.
- Conduct weekly observations on assigned children using the Teaching Strategies Gold online tool under the supervision of CD Teacher as assigned.
- Meet with the CD Teacher/Child Development Teacher Mentor for weekly planning and discussion about the children, families, classrooms, and quality of instruction and engagement.
- Provide assistance in stocking and maintaining organization of supplies within the center.
- Prepare and update bulletin boards.
- Clean, organize, and maintain materials/equipment, Child Development rooms, shared spaces, and the playground.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be eighteen (18) years old or older.
- Ninety-hour Early Childhood Education Certificate required within 3 months of employment.
- Forty-five-hour Infant Toddler Certificate required within 6 months of employment.
- Child Development Associate credential (CDA) is required within 12 months of employment.
- Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certification.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one year supervised classroom experience working directly with children ages birth to three years old preferred
- Daycare experience preferred.
