Child Care Provider

The Sparrow's Nest is a small social services agency in O'Fallon, MO with the mission to honor the God-given dignity of all human life by empowering young families to reach their full potential. We are seeking a part-time Child Care Provider to join our team and help us fulfill our mission.

Child Care Provider

The part-time Child Care Provider must be skilled in communicating with children, parents, and staff in order to effectively meet the needs of the children, model healthy interactions for the parents, and collaborate with the staff. The Provider is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, creating and implementing curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the Nest. The Provider must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.

Responsibilities Include:

• Create a safe, nurturing environment where children can play and learn
• Carry out the daily schedule for the children including preparing meals
• Cultivate positive relationships with parents, volunteers, state licensing authorities, and community partners
• Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
• Partner with the parents to create and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on age-appropriate practices and early learning standards.
• Lead by example; model, coach, and encourage parents enrolled in the program.
• Create monthly menus.
• Ensure a healthy classroom environment- including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety of the children.
• Communicate with parents through daily communication logs, conversations at drop-off/pick-up, and via email/telephone as needed.
• Resolve conflicts to ensure a positive experience for everyone.
• Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.
• Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
• Ensure all policies, state regulations, and licensing standards are met in partnership with the Executive Director.
• Ensures proper ratios and supervision are maintained at all times.
• Maintain accurate records, forms, and files.
• Maintain all required trainings related to role (will provide upon hire).

Details

Part-time, Monday through Friday from 2pm-6pm.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Commitment to the mission of Sparrow’s Nest and the parent mentor model.
• Strong oral and written communications skills; technology skills.
• Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
• A strong understanding of child development.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification (will provide after hire if needed).
• Must clear full background check.
• Must be willing to undergo health screening.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelors in Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Development, social work, or other related field, preferred
• Or 12 months’ experience with at least 6 college semester credits in child-related courses, Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, or Youth Development Credential (YDC) may be considered

Physical Requirements

• Able to take frequent walks and stand for longer periods of time.
• Able to lift 35 pounds.
• Able to bend, kneel, and sit often throughout the day.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
