Chief Support Officer & VP Radiation Oncology

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

Primary focus on radiation oncology, breast center, PET, new patient scheduling, and marketing operations for the cancer program.

Position Summary:  The VP of Radiation Oncology is a member of the cancer program senior leadership team who is primarily accountable for the radiation oncology program for Covenant Health. This leader will be responsible for radiation oncology operations including strategic planning, business growth, physician alignment, and system integration activities. Responsibilities include the oversight of 7 radiation oncology locations, including one proton therapy center. The VP of Radiation Oncology will also oversee the patient access and physician alignment teams for the cancer program. As a core member of the cancer program leadership team, the VP Radiation Oncology will have an active role in executing system wide initiatives including the development of oncology centers of excellence and the development of centralized oncology programs. Reports to the President & CAO of Thompson Cancer Survival Center.

  • Directs overall planning and operations of the Covenant Health radiation oncology program, including the Thompson Proton Center.
  • Serves as a member of the cancer program senior leadership team. Develops goals and objectives and establishes and implements policies and procedures for organization as a part of the team.
  • Works with other Vice Presidents to continue to plan and effect changes that allow Covenant Health to be competitive in a changing healthcare market.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating contracted services performed within the radiation oncology program.
  • Networks with other Support Services administrators to keep abreast of changes in the market.
  • Leads the marketing and promotion of Covenant’s cancer services in the East TN market.
  • Ensures compliance with the Joint Commission and state regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitates effective operations by acting as liaison to other oncology and Covenant services. Serves on committees and cross-organizational teams to develop and integrate oncology collaboration and centers of excellence.
  • Maintains fiscal integrity and control.
  • Ensures efficient, economic, and quality performance of assigned areas of responsibility to support or provide quality health care services.
  • Mentors and develops leaders and employees for further responsibilities and growth.
  • Monitors and promotes improvements in outcome measurements.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education: 

Master's degree in related field required.

 

Minimum Experience:

Five (5) years of experience in a radiation oncology leadership position.
