Position: Chief Risk Officer
Department: Risk

Job Summary
In this position, you will oversee the Bank's Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance efforts. You will also be responsible for key Risk activities across the Bank including establishing risk appetite, performing risk assessment, KRI monitoring and risk mitigation/acceptance.
Primary Responsibilities
• Responsible for enabling the efficient and effective governance of significant risks, and related opportunities across all business lines.
• Responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating internal and external risks to the organization.
• Ensuring that the organization complies all government regulations and federal and state laws.
• Creates policies and procedures to mitigate identified risk.
• Develops plans to assist the organization achieve its goals while property addressing risk.
• Responsible for development and ongoing oversight of the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework and program. Includes buildout and maintenance of the three lines of defense model as well as identifying, measuring, managing, reporting, and governing the risks faced by the Bank.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify potential areas of concern for the organization.
• Monitor how risk mitigation policies and procedures are implemented.
• Investigate instances of non-compliance and provide corrective action and implement mitigation strategies.
• Maintain a working knowledge of latest trends and developments in the risk management industry.
• Prepare reports for executive leadership and the Board of Directors outlining the status of risk mitigation efforts.
• Manage, direct, and supervise a team of risk specialists in charge of the organization’s risk management efforts.
• Promotes a risk culture across the Bank, including development a platform for the open communication of risks, current and emerging, and ensuring employees are educated and trained on risk management practices.
• Provide leadership in building a best-in-class enterprise risk management to ensure that operations processes are sound.
• Build relationships with lines of business teams, corporate and other functional leaders to effectively execute risk strategy.
• Define, assess, and understand regulatory requirements and incorporate these into the risk assessment process.
• Provide an independent assessment to the Board of Directors, CEO & COO as required, to ensure that business risks are properly considered.
• Recognize industry developments, threats, changes in technology and market risk issues and make appropriate recommendations.
Requirements/Qualifications
• Minimum 10 years wide-ranging financial services experience, preferably including audit, credit, treasury, compliance, and/or operations.
• 7 years senior leadership or management level experience
• Proven track record of success in building and managing a department in the financial services industry.
• A thorough knowledge of highly disciplined business, financial, and risk management processes.
• Must be able to adapt to changing business conditions and hyper-active growth.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; strong problem resolution skills.
• Audit or regulatory experience a strong plus.
• Master’s degree in finance or business-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements
This position requires standing, walking, bending, and squatting on a regular basis. May require the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or reach with hands and arms. Requires the ability to carry, lift, move or push up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Must be able to talk and listen to others.
Work Environment
This position regularly works in an office setting. Most of the job duties require the employee to be working with computers and electronic media on a regular basis.
