Job Description

Riceland Foods is hiring a Chief Revenue and Customer Experience Officer. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the purpose of this role is to provide best in class sales/sales management leadership to the organization and lead our Marketing division. The Chief Revenue and Customer Experience Officer will play a vital role as a member of the cooperative’s leadership team and be the face of the company to the customer community.


Job Duties

• Develop and implement the annual and long-range sales plans, including sales forecasting and gross margin budgeting.

• Develop a market and data driven pricing strategy that is both transparent and has integrity across the company’s many distribution channels.

• Partner with retail customers on account/category management and shopper insights.

• Implement Salesforce ERP system, which is currently underway.

• Develop and implement programs to build relationships with key customers.

• Develop sales processes and pricing models to lead an accountable sales organization.

• Contribute to the development of the company’s sales compensation structure, ensuring consistency and fairness throughout. Recommend improvements to the exiting compensation structure to better motivate and reward salespeople for the desired performance.

• Provide mentoring, coaching, and direction to team members with a continuous feedback loop.

• Promote, maintain, and enhance the overall reputation of this company to its customer base as a high-quality producer that exceeds customer/consumer expectations.

• Serve as a contributing member to the Executive Leadership team.


Other important parameters for this position include:

• Travel is anticipated to being 30-40%.


Education Requirements

• At least 15 years’ experience at the senior sales level, with substantial exposure to leading major national retailers across multiple channels including grocery, mass, club, and food service. Experience with commodity type products is highly desirable.

• At least ten years of leadership experience with the ability to motivate and embrace team-based professional development. A hands-on collaborative style of working is necessary.

• Intimate knowledge, relationships, and demonstrable success at key retailers and food service providers.

• Strategic orientation with the ability to apply business management principles in the context of the Company’s structure and business, and to think and act opportunistically.

• Highly analytical, with strong financial acumen.



Performance Imperatives (not an exhaustive list)

• Development of Pricing Programs for Pricing Integrity in the Marketplace and to drive profitability by channel.

• Development of incentive programs for our sellers that reward the achievement of goals and objectives.

• Design, development, and implementation of a fully functional Salesforce CRM. Must partner in a cross functional collaborative manner with IT, Finance, Sales, Marketing and Operations to achieve this.

• Development of an annual Sales Plan and Budget for channel excellence and profitable growth. This must be integrated with the overall Sales, Inventory, and Operations Plan (SIOP).

• Leadership and creation of systems to provide structure to support and develop our dynamic sales and marketing team, i.e. investment in our people.
