Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive, adaptable, and deeply knowledgeable Chief of Staff to join our dynamic startup team. The ideal candidate will serve as a silent orchestrator and executor, seamlessly navigating the challenges and opportunities that arise within our organization. The Chief of Staff will work closely with the founder/CEO, complementing their skill set, and demonstrating a deep understanding of startup dynamics.

  • Responsibilities:
    Serve as a strategic and operational advisor to the founder/CEO, assisting in navigating both long-term strategic priorities and day-to-day operational challenges.
  • Act as a driving force within the business, proactively identifying opportunities for growth and innovation, while mitigating risks and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Cultivate strong relationships across the organization, collaborating with key stakeholders to drive alignment and execution of key initiatives.
  • Demonstrate a knack for conjuring creative solutions to complex problems, whether they are new challenges or recurring issues.
  • Provide support in crisis management, effectively putting out fires and managing unexpected challenges, while also creating sparks of opportunity to drive the organization forward.
  • Manage complex and competing risk decisions in a highly regulated space.
  • Operate autonomously in the background, diligently managing responsibilities without causing drama or fuss, while ensuring seamless execution of tasks.
  • Foster compatibility with the founder/CEO, understanding their vision, goals, and challenges, and providing support that complements their leadership.
  • Demonstrate a profound understanding of startup ecosystems, including their operational intricacies, challenges, and success factors.
  • Participate in Chief of Staff communities, engage in roundtables, and networking events to share experiences, gain insights, and foster professional growth.
  • Embrace change and adaptability, staying agile and responsive to the fast-paced, ever-evolving nature of startup environments.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a Chief of Staff role or similar capacity within a startup environment.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and execute proactive and reactive plans.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and foster collaboration across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, with a high level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Deep understanding of startup dynamics, including operational challenges, growth strategies, and market trends.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, with a willingness to tackle new challenges and adapt quickly to change.
  • Must have experience in a fast-growing Series B+ startup environment
