Position Summary The Chief Medical Officer for Diagnostics isa key member of the Business Area, engaged in defining the overall diseasestate strategy and direction of the organization.
In addition, this positionleads the overall IVD medical, clinical, and scientific vision for theorganization and provides direction to the company. The position providesmedical oversight, expertise, and leadership to ensure the delivery of productswith the highest quality, safety, and effectiveness that enhance patientoutcomes and physician wellness. EssentialJob Functions Responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to the following: Lead andimplement the medical and clinical direction for the organization.
Participatein strategic planning to define the company's strategy and execution plans. Manages directly medicaldirectors who lead specific clinical areas and support the three Diagnosticsbusiness areas (Core Lab Solutions, Special Lab Solution and Point of Care), Leads andoverseas team of ~200 individuals across Medical Affairs functions, includingMedical Sciences, Clinical Sciences & Operations, Biostatistics & DataManagement and Medical Product Support. Provide advice tosenior management peers regarding trends in the industry and laboratorymedicine community, as well as suggestions regarding portfolio and strategicroadmap decisions.
Provide directescalation of product related health or public safety topics to Head ofBusiness Area. Support key opinion leader relationships with top physicians tosupport technology, clinical research and product development objectives. Representpatient feedback and needs to senior management peers.
Buildrelationship with key internal and external experts in targeted innovationareas. Serveas the medical expert on focus areas for internal and external activities suchas advisory board meetings, faculty training, clinical education, productdesign and launch strategy for future products and indications. Driveclinical & scientific publications and to demonstrate the value of diagnosticproducts Offer technicalopinions relying on subject matter expertise for white papers, industryjournals or speaking engagements.
Providesleadership and guidance on clinical risk, and interactions with FDA and other regulatorybodies pre- and post-market. Participatein clinical trial design and data analysis and interpretation. Workclosely with the multidisciplinary team in developing an integrated medicalstrategy to support company growth objective and product roadmap activities.
Keepabreast of emerging models in health care delivery; identify and define new andinnovative strategies to achieve business goals and objectives. Identifyopportunities to collaborate and develop clinical integration opportunitieswith healthcare providers to build clinical program. Active engagementin business development opportunities to include alliances, partnerships, andacquisitions.
CriticalCompetencies Attention toquality, safety, and effectiveness in all initiatives Knowledge onIn-vitro Diagnostic industry Experiencestarting and/or running Medical, Clinical, and Scientific Affairs organizations Knowledge of InfectiousDisease Neurology, Cardiology, or Metabolic Disorders - strongly preferred Knowledge ofPathology or Internal Medicine - preferred Strategic projectmanagement skills - with a strong emphasis on customer projects Experienceworking with outside organizations Experience with approachesin the field; currently practicing and seeing patients - preferred The ability torelate well and establish credibility with senior leadership. Demonstratedmanagement, organizational and interpersonal skills. Strategic andinnovative thinker with proven ability to communicate a vision and drive results Education/Qualifications Minimum of 15years' IVD and Medical experience with proven record of advance technologiespractices.
MD required,ideally having Board Certification and ongoing accreditation by globallyrecognized bodies; current role as a clinician - strongly preferred Demonstratedsuccess in building / transforming Medical Affairs Organization. Experience withhealthcare reimbursement and health economics Must haveexperience setting up and maintaining collaborations. Proven history ofleading clinical research with track record of peer-reviewed publications andpresentation.

The pay range for this position is $350,000 - $420,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending onjob-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The annual incentive target is 40% of base pay.
