The position of Chief Financial Officer requires exceptional financial leadership and strategic planning skills; a deep understanding of financial management in the nonprofit sector; and the ability to align financial strategies with the mission and goals of the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth. JOB DESCRIPTION
The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth is seeking a dynamic CFO to provide strategic leadership while conducting a culture of financial excellence and organization. This position supports the work of the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth, which consists of 12 locations. We are a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Chief Financial Officer at the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth serves on the CEO's senior leadership team; oversees and manages financial matters, investments, and information systems; and provides strategic direction and leadership for YMCA business operations and initiatives. The Chief Financial Officer also positions the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth as a community convener and collaborator to address critical issues.
The YMCA Association Resource Office is the central hub for support and resources for the entire YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth. By housing essential functions such as philanthropy, communications, and people and program development, the Association Resource Office ensures that all branches of the YMCA can effectively deliver high-quality programs and services that align with our mission and values.
The centralized resource office is with a decentralized operating model enables the organization to maximize its impact on the community, improve operational efficiency, and foster collaboration among staff and volunteers. As a member of the YMCA Association Resource Office team, the Chief Financial Officer will play a critical role in securing the necessary resources to sustain and grow our programs, ultimately enabling the YMCA to better serve the children, families, and communities of Metropolitan Fort Worth.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related discipline, MBA, CPA, or CMA strongly preferred. YMCA leadership certification required within three years from date of hire.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Five+ years of substantive, relevant experience in accounting and fiscal management.
  • Leadership experience totaling a minimum of five years, which includes managing teams.
  • Knowledge and understanding of general business matters required, including budget development, financial reporting, cash management, business taxes and debt financing instruments.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, including experience with systems selection, new system implementation and project management.
  • Office Suite computer skills required.
  • Experience with investment management and asset allocation preferred.
  • Experience in effectively leading and managing a staff team.
  • Previous experience with volunteer/nonprofit organization required.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that support the organization's mission and goals.
  • Lead and manage all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Anticipate trends and their implications on the future of the organization.
  • Oversees investments through a professional management company and under the direction of the Finance Committee, and within the risk tolerance expressed by the Board via the asset allocation policy.
  • Oversee compliance with Federal contracts, New Market Tax credit agreements, and tax-exempt bond transactions.
  • Manages tax-exempt bond transactions and files all necessary reports. Establishes, maintains and/or monitors all banking and financing relationships.
  • Oversees financial operations, prepares analysis and reports, and gives guidance to executive and operating staff. Works closely with operations staff on issues that affect financial outcomes. Secures and allocates program or project resources so that strategic objectives can be achieved. Prepares specific recommendations.
  • Reviews, updates, and/or develops internal control systems for YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth and oversees internal audits, which check for compliance on a variety of policies and standards. Provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Leads and manages staff and oversees the operations of the accounting/finance and information systems and other assigned departments.
  • Oversees and certifies the annual audit and meets periodically with the outside auditors to maintain communications and keep them informed of changes in the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth. Ensures that current accounting standards and legal requirements are met.
  • Actively engages with the Board and the Finance Committee and other Board Committees in challenging conversations and decision making to advance YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth's impact. Works directly with assigned committee(s) of the Board and Board Committees to build volunteer relationships, develop policies, monitor their implementation and meet the related needs of the Board.
  • Develops performance indicators and measurement systems for tracking strategic plan objectives.
  • Oversees the development of the annual operating budget, including all branch budgets. Guides the organization to make tough choices about what to stop, start, and continue. Works closely with operations staff to ensure that branch budgets are well planned, realistic, and prepared in a timely manner.
  • Maintains all necessary records and accounting reports and records all transactions on a timely basis.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with auditors, bankers, investment counselors, attorneys and other professional activities.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth offers a competitive salary and benefits package for selected candidates.
The yearly salary range for this role is between $175,000 to $190,000, which will be determined based on the candidates experience and qualifications. In addition to the base salary, an end of year bonus will be available.
To further support our commitment to the community engagement, it is a requirement that the candidate lives in the community that the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth serves.
Additionally, as a demonstration of our commitment to helping you transition to our community, the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth is pleased to offer a relocation benefit of up to $20,000. This benefit will assist you in covering the costs associated with your move to the Fort Worth area, making the transition as smooth as possible.
The YMCA provides competitive health benefits, a well-rounded wellness program and a 403-B Retirement Fund paid fully at 12% of your total salary each year. In addition, to medical dental and vision coverage, plus life and long-term disability insurance, a work-life balance program includes up to 288 hours of vacation & personal time. THE SELECTION PROCESS & TIMELINE
  • Position launch by end of February (Y-USA, LinkedIn, Facebook, Targeted Emails & Contacts)
  • Application acceptance through March 15th - must include cover letter, resume, and six references (references will not be contacted until final interviews) - cover letter and resume should be current, demonstrate experiences, qualifications, success measures and alignment with the position.   • Qualified candidates that demonstrate alignment will be contacted throughout March by JJ Balderas for an initial Zoom introductory conversation. During this time candidates can ask clarifying questions and get a better understanding of the process, qualifications, vision, and expectations of the role. Applicants that pass this initial screen will be asked to take two aptitude tests.
  • Applications will close promptly on March 15th, and will have been vetted in advance throughout the process. Applicants will receive information on next steps if selected for interview process. Applicants who are not selected will be contacted in a timely manner.
  • Preliminary interviews will be held on zoom with the following: CEO, Chief of Staff, Board Vice Chair, and several outside leaders who are entrusted and have worked with the CEO in the past.
  • Following preliminary interviews, selected candidates will be called up to set up in-person interviews in Fort Worth. This process will be approximately two full days. This will be an opportunity to meet Y leaders, board members, community leaders and spend time with the CEO. Interview instructions, which include a presentation, will be detailed in advance of the interview.
  • Following the face-to-face interview process, final candidates will be selected and a call will be scheduled to discuss next steps, additional Zoom call, etc.

TENTATIVE TIMELINE
  • Applications through March 15, 2024
  • Zoom interviews scheduled week of March 18th
  • Selected candidates face-to-face interview week of March 25th
  • Follow up Zoom/Call for final candidates week of April 1st
  • CFO suggested start date April - June (depending on individual situation)
