POSITION DESCRIPTION
DBL Law is seeking a Chief Executive Officer who can help us grow by leading our strategy, streamlining our operations, and enhancing our systems. The CEO will oversee the strategic direction and on-going operations for DBL. The CEO will have the overall responsibility of achieving DBL's strategic objectives, focusing on sustainable revenue growth, capability development, process optimization, and client satisfaction. The CEO will serve as the right hand to the Managing Partner (MP) to ensure that organizational goals are being met while leading the implementation of the company strategy. The CEO will develop growth initiatives to meet company benchmarks and goals, and facilitate company transformation, ensuring effective operational and financial procedures are in place.

JOB DUTIES
  • Manage oversight of:
  • Business Operations – including business strategy, marketing/CRM, HR, Risk Management, Vendor/Contract Management, Records Management, and Facilities Management
  • Law Practice Support – including Information Governance, Document and Knowledge Management and Automation, Library & Research, and Practice Support
  • Client Support – including Invoicing, Payments, and Communication/Collaboration
  • Information Technology – including IT Strategy & Innovation, IT Governance, Data Management, Infrastructure & Systems Management, IT Operations, Monitoring & Reporting, and BI & Analytics
  • Optimize current DBL systems for efficiency and scalability while identifying, designing, and developing systems for new practice areas/business models that support emerging markets.
  • Make timely and effective decisions by gaining consensus and buy-in from Executive Committee and Board Members.
  • Engage in the Firm's strategic planning process to ensure smooth running operations.
  • Communicate and implement the Firm's vision and strategic plan.
  • Work with Finance and the MP to establish a financial plan for DBL that achieves the firm's financial goals, including expenditures, revenue goals, and staff productivity goals.
  • Support and advise the Managing Partner in decision-making.
  • Review and analyze financial reporting and other metrics used by the firm and present relevant financial data to the partners, including industry/competition comparisons.
  • Monitor the firm's profitability, budget performance, and revenue per practice area and location.
  • Collaborate with Firm Leadership to establish and support practice performance metrics.
  • Work with Law Practice and Operations leaders to streamline and automate processes to include, but not limited to, revenue cycle, KPI's and reporting.
  • Facilitate regular meetings, establishing short- and long-term goals, and accountability metrics.
  • Work closely with the Managing Partner and Human Resources (HR); motivate and lead a high-performance management team; attract, recruit, train, and retain employees for the Firm; provide guidance and mentorship as a cornerstone to our career development program.
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the Firm.
  • Identify and implement new software and technologies as that optimize business operations, drive revenue growth, and improve Client experience.
  • Embody DBL's mission and values, setting a positive example for others to follow and providing a work environment that promotes diversity, respect, and collaboration.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, MBA or JD preferred.
  • Strong operational experience: ideally in a CMO/COO/CEO or other senior leadership role for at least 8 years within a Legal or Professional Services firm.
  • A track record of executing significant transformation which improves business effectiveness in sustainable ways.
  • Experience managing an Operations team and a budget of more than $25 Million.
  • Strong knowledge of financials, accounting, human resources, people development, risk management, contract management, resource management, information technology, and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis.
  • Socially responsible, with a history of community service.
  • Excellent communication skills and articulate in relating to people at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong executive presence and presentation skills.
  • Ability to establish effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Trustworthy with willingness to share information and to serve as a mentor.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to and from DBL offices and events, as needed.
