Title: Chief Advancement Officer
Location: Flexible within New Mexico
Compensation: $110,000+
Status: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

In accordance with the elements of competence established for Boys & Girls Club resource development professionals, the Chief Advancement Officer is responsible for developing comprehensive strategic fundraising efforts that help secure major philanthropic support primarily from individual donors, foundations, and corporations to support the mission and programs of Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the state of New Mexico. Candidate must demonstrate the skills necessary to solicit and close gifts at the six-figure level and above, as well as a commitment to building long term relationships with a diverse population of donors and donor prospects. Candidate will be responsible for growing their portfolio through identification, qualification, cultivation, and stewardship strategies. They will act in accordance with the core values and mission of Boys & Girls Clubs and will work with leadership from Clubs throughout the state in managing, planning, organizing, and implementing all major gift initiatives.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Major Gifts Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to include major,
principal, and/or planned gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations with the primary
focus on gifts that will support all Clubs across the state of New Mexico.
  • Cultivation and Stewardship: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential
major donors, ensuring effective cultivation and stewardship efforts.
  • Prospect Research: Identify and research potential major gift donors, understanding their
philanthropic interests and capacity to give.
  • Proposal Development: Collaborate with individual Club leadership and development teams to
create compelling proposals that align with donor interests and statewide Club needs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with leadership and development teams from individual Clubs, the
Boys & Girls Clubs of America national office, and other key stakeholders to align major gifts
efforts with the overall fundraising strategy.
  • Reporting: Establish benchmarks and regular reporting processes to measure results of all major
gifts, donor relationships, and revenue projections.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven, successful experience in nonprofit development.
  • Proven track record of successfully securing major gifts.
  • CFRE Certification preferred.
  • Strong written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of ethical contact, integrity and dependability while maintaining
confidentiality related to donor information.
  • Knowledge of philanthropic landscape in New Mexico is a plus.
