Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides vision, leadership, organizational direction and management to Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. The CAO has accountability for driving operational excellence, optimizing financial performance, and ensuring quality and safety standards for patients and employees are met or exceeded.

The CAO serves as a key hospital representative in matters dealing with the community, regulatory agencies and all other matters of institutional interest and involvement. The person in this role will work collaboratively with the Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, as well as Vandalia Health Shared Services leaders on organizational initiatives and strategic planning.

Education: Master’s degree in healthcare administration, Finance, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a Masters’ degree.

Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of healthcare senior leadership experience. Experience in a matrixed environment is preferred.

  • Proven experience and successful track record in executive management – including strategy development and implementation, performance planning and management, and overall leadership of professional staff, fostering a positive work environment that motivates staff to achieve their potential
  • A driver of change, able to manage conflict in an adaptive and agile manner
  • Adept at leveraging technology to reduce risk, streamline operations, and add value to the organization
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, relationship-building, mediation and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and ability to successfully manage large budgets
  • Excellent broad based business background with knowledge and experience in organizational development, continuous quality improvement, and business compliance
  • Exhibits a strong presence of command with proven ability to establish work plans, goals, and manage to those objectives
  • Fosters a results-oriented, accountable environment.
  • Ability to drive change in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the organization
  • Expert knowledge of current health care challenges and ability to align organizational goals and outcomes in accordance
  • Ability to assume a leadership role while establishing effective working relationships and collaborations with a broad cross-section of staff, providers, and community in a culturally sensitive and respectful manner
