Role and Responsibilities
1. The Analytical Chemistry Lab tech will be supporting analytical testing /routine QC analyses in the Krosche Analytical Sciences/ Quality Control area.
2. They will run routine analysis which includes pH measurements, water testing, titration, moisture analysis, viscosity, colorimetry, and others.
3. They will help with routine sampling and analyses for raw materials, bulk product, finished product and packaging components.
4. They will help with stability studies set-up and completion of testing on a well-defined schedule.
5. They will train on SOPs for operation and maintenance of lab equipment and performing lab functions in compliance with good documentation and good laboratory practices (GLP) in conjunction with ES&H and OSHA requirements.
6. They will help in troubleshooting, maintenance, and minor repair of laboratory equipment.
7. They will assist in writing analytical test methods & reports.
8. They will help maintain regular inventory of lab chemicals and supplies and associated documentation.
9. Coordinate with external vendors for: equipment servicing, calibration, laboratory waste management.
10. Assist in conducting and documenting laboratory investigations/deviations.
11. Comply with all job-related safety and other requirements and train other personnel on safety procedures on equipment, as needed.
12. Assume other duties and responsibilities, as necessary, within and outside the department in an effort to provide the required support to ensure adherence to production schedules.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
1. High School Diploma or equivalency required with at least 1-2 years of experience working in a lab setting in a graduate level academic institution or industry such as food, healthcare, medical devices. Bachelors degree or equivalent preferred.
2. Good understanding of basic organic and inorganic chemistry and physical chemistry concepts (stoichiometry, solubility parameters, specific gravity, colligative properties, boiling point, melting point pH, acid-base titration, UV-VIS spectroscopy etc.).
3. Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
4. Capable of using scales, magnetic stir plates, beakers, pipettes, pH meter, overhead mixers and variety of analytical lab equipment.
Additional Skills
1. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
2. Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel (including performing mathematical/statistical calculations using formulas, graphical representation of data etc.).
3. Must have good written and oral communications skills in English.
4. Flexibility and adaptability in day-to-day activities to support a dynamic and developing manufacturing/ R&D site.
5. Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
6. Familiarity with GLP and cGMP requirements for healthcare industry is a plus.
7. Physically able to continuously stand and walk.
8. Perform majority of daily tasks standing.
Additional Notes
Work will require long periods of standing and may require ability to handle/lift/move heavy loads.
Actual position and compensation will be commensurate with educational qualifications and professional experience.
