Chemist I - Gas Chromatography (Gc) Analysis

GC Chemist

TECH 2000 is currently seeking candidates experienced with Gas Chromatography analysis for two opportunities at client's facility in Pasadena and La Porte, TX.

The ideal candidate would have a Bachelors in Chemistry and 1-5 year's experience in a chemical manufacturing or third party analytical laboratory performing complex GC analyses via ASTM methodology.

Major Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Observe and maintain safety requirements
• Perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations
• Perform routine & non-routine lab analyses as required
• Routinely operate a variety of standard lab equipment including Titrators, pH meters, densitometers, vacuum pumps, GCs with liquid & gas sample valves, GCs with manual and autosample injection, Total Nitrogen/Sulfur analyzers

Qualifications/Competencies:

• AS Chemical Lab Technology is the minimum education requirement with 3+ years of experience in a chemical manufacturing QA/QC lab environment.
• BS Chemistry or similar science with 1-5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated through the ability to troubleshoot and maintain lab instrumentation.
• Solid math and statistical analysis capabilities - able to read and interpret data and know when to escalate, how to determine issues in production and how to resolve them.
• Computer Skills including Chromatography Data Systems, LIMS, MS Word/Excel/Outlook.
• Knowledge of standardized methodology - ASTM/UOP, etc.

DETAILS

• Shift: 12hr Rotating Schedule (i.e. 4 on 4 off, Dupont, 4/10, or other depending on the location)
• Wage: $25-35/hour
• Location: Pasadena and La Porte, TX area
