Job description

The position requires ability to climb, bend, lift and perform a wide range of physical activities. The individual must follow all plant safety guidelines and policies, which include the wearing of fire-retardant clothing, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The Chemical Process Operator is responsible for all chemical mixing, reacting, processing, and packaging operations within the production area. They are responsible for transferring the products through the various process and storage areas using tanks, pumps, valves, and other transfer systems. Additionally, the Chemical Process Operator researches and troubleshoots any problems that occur during product transfer and reports these issues to the shift leader of supervisor. The Chemical Process Operator will also be responsible for loading and unloading chemical delivery platforms, conducting inventory, and ensuring general cleanliness of the area in which they work.

  • Practical experience in the various aspects of plant operations including safe startup, shutdown, troubleshooting procedures, regulatory compliance, and basic preventive maintenance.
  • Handle, store, and transfer chemical materials according to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Understand Chemical Process systems and operations.
  • Operate, monitor, control and troubleshoot batch Chemical Processes.
  • Measure, weigh and load chemical ingredients following formulation cards in batch ticket.
  • Take samples and perform routine chemical and physical tests of products.
  • Record production data in batch ticket.
  • Routine cleaning of different equipment (reactors, filters, storage vessels etc.).
  • Maintain safety, health, and environmental standards in a chemical plant.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
  • Graduation from a technical trade school and/or completion of an process technology degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Process Operator in a chemical or refining plant, or related industry preferred
  • The ability to assume responsibility, prioritize and respond to multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility is key.
  • Works indoors and outdoors in and around industrial equipment.
  • Works in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment.
  • May work in confined spaces (i.e., tanks and vessels).
  • Must wear special safety equipment (PPE) while working.
  • The ability to take call-outs and work overtime when needed is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
