Position:
Chemical Operator

Primary Location: Vancouver, WA

Shift: Day shift - 40 hours work week. Shift rotates between 6AM - 2PM - Sunday - Thursday or Tuesday - Saturday

Reports to: Operations Manager

Compensation: $34.47 + benefit
The US hourly rate for this position is $34.47 + benefits. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The hourly rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific rate factors for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process, as some facilities are subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements. Please note that the compensation details listed in the US roles postings reflect the hourly rate only, and do not include benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives such as overtime and shift premiums.

About this Role and About You
This job is diverse in the mechanical ability to perform general plant operator duties. The Chemical Operator is an integral part of our production team and will be responsible for the overall chemical production process. This will include weighing, mixing chemical ingredients, monitoring equipment and the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will be attentive, knowledgeable, and have a desire to work with other production team members to develop the best processes and products.

Qualification
Knowledge
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience working in chemical manufacturing or manufacturing/production.
  • Experience working with forklifts preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs or more.
Competencies
  • Ability to demonstrate experience using Microsoft programs, maintenance management systems and email.
  • Aptitude for mechanics.
  • Willingness to comply with safety and quality regulations, including wearing protective gear when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform chemical manufacturing operations in safe and effective manner.
  • Recording information, such as ingredients, weights, and temperature, and inputting into database.
  • Monitor and control pressure and temperature of chemical process equipment.
  • Operate plant equipment as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Handle, transport and process chemicals safely.
  • Document plant processes and record production data.
  • Operation of tank truck and railcar vessel opening, loading and unloading of product, operation of pumps, piping and valves.
  • Troubleshooting issues with production equipment and processes.
  • Plant inventory record keeping.
  • Operation of the following mobile equipment: Backhoe, Trackmobile, Forklifts, and other mobile equipment.
  • Daily plant upkeep and daily maintenance. Ability to perform daily housekeeping duties.
Working Environment
  • Chemical manufacturing plant producing Liquid Alum, ACH and PAC chemicals
  • Physical capability of performing tasks in 100 degree ambient temperatures while wearing Protective Personal Protection.
  • This job requires climbing stairs and ladders and also lifting (within OSHA guidelines).
  • This job consists of outside elements where radiant heat or cold is normal work environment, and rotating shifts.
  • Following all plant safety guidelines such as: Confined Space, Working with heights Management of Change, Hot Work and Operating Procedures
  • Must be able to work scheduled 8-hour days with intermittent 14 – 16 hour days for emergency operations/repairs.
