We have a great client that is looking for a Chemical Engineer in Wayland, MI!
As a Chemical Engineer specializing in adhesive development with an understanding of mechanical engineering, you will play a pivotal role in the research, development, and optimization of patented adhesive formulations for a new product. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful creation of a patented product that meets industry standards and customer requirements. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your technical skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities to drive innovation in adhesive technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhesive Formulation Development: Develop, formulate, and optimize adhesive formulations that meet performance, cost, and environmental criteria, ensuring they are suitable for a range of applications.
- Material Selection: Identify and source appropriate raw materials, chemicals, and additives to enhance adhesive properties, such as bonding strength, durability, and flexibility.
- Process Optimization: Implement and oversee manufacturing processes to ensure the efficient and consistent production of adhesives, while minimizing waste and energy consumption.
- Quality Control: Conduct rigorous testing and analysis to verify the performance and quality of adhesive products, making necessary adjustments to meet specifications.
- Research and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and market demands to drive innovation in adhesive development.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations, as well as industry standards and certifications.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and sales, to align adhesive development with business goals and customer needs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments, test results, and formulations to support intellectual property, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Cost Management: Monitor and manage costs associated with adhesive development, striving to optimize the cost-effectiveness of formulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in adhesive development, with experience in a similar role ideal.
- Strong knowledge of adhesive chemistry, polymer science, and material science.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, equipment, and analysis tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective project management and time management abilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards in the chemical industry.
- Continuous learning and adaptability to emerging adhesive technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with a focus on adhesives.
- Experience in scale-up and commercialization of adhesive products.
- Familiarity with adhesive-related patents and intellectual property.
- Involvement in industry associations and networks related to adhesives.
