Chemical Blending Operator
In this position, you will partner alongside the Production Manager and the Production team in a dynamic, fast paced environment. As a Chemical Blending Operator, you will follow batch sheets to create DPG custom blends and other commodity-based fertilizers. In this position you will have the satisfaction and privilege of contributing to California’s booming agricultural industry by creating superior products used in a wide variety of crops.
What you will do:
  • Follow Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures as you seek opportunities to continually improve our work processes and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Leadership, Engineering, Quality and our Safety team to drive toward production goals that delight our customers;
  • The Blender Operator will mix and blend hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals to detailed specifications they will then fill and label containers with the product produced. Operate forklift (if certified) to load drums to the stretch wrap machine and assist in loading and unloading shipments onto trucks, pallet jack knowledge needed.
  • Must be able to lift 55lb. throughout the day, Capable of standing for long periods of time. Must speak English and have excellent communication skills. SOPs are very precise so must be detail oriented and able to follow instructions as given.
  • Performs manual duties as assigned or advised.
  • Loads and unloads tanker trucks/rail cars, common carriers and customer vehicles using forklift and other required equipment.
  • Ships and receives products according to company’s procedures and requirements.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the warehouse facility.
  • Places hazardous materials or waste into appropriate containers.
  • Packaging into drum and totes
  • Cleans and maintains warehouse/tank farm and equipment.
  • Adheres to company quality processes, as applicable.
  • Assists to resolve product quality issues in an efficient and timely manner, as applicable.
  • Complies with all company policies, rules and guidelines.
  • Mixes and packages company products. Maintains inventory levels and assists in shipping and receiving products and materials in the warehouse.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:
  • Physical ability to lift and carry at least 55 lbs. for short distances
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Successfully pass background and drug screen.
  • Exposure to fumes, dirt, noise, and hazardous chemicals on a daily basis. May require safety equipment and/or precautions
Traits we believe make a strong candidate:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience handling hazardous chemicals strongly preferred;
  • Astute attention to detail to drive Safety and Quality;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment;
  • Ability to perform visual checks on handle material responsibly while wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 55lbs daily; and 70lbs infrequently;
  • Dependability with flexibility to work over-time and weekends to support business needs
  • Candidates from chemical or similar industry preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently. Forklift certification required.
  • Possess knowledge to operate truck scales, floor scales and tanks scales
  • Must meet PFT requirements to wear a respirator. Cannot have any facial hair that may interfere with a respirator
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to ready, comprehend and carry out detailed and simple instructions and write simple correspondence.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
  • Obtain laboratory approval for all raw materials delivered to the plant prior to unloading material into storage tanks.
  • Ensure that applicable products meet all quality standards and have been approved by the lab prior to transferring to storage tanks or tanker trucks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
