Job description

TheChecking-Receiving Warehouse Leadis responsible for efficiently and accurately fulfill the logistics of receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material in a manner that meets company standards for safety, security, accuracy, and productivity. Responsible for all warehouse transactions, as well as the upkeep and maintenance of the branch warehouse environment and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receives and directs truck drivers and deliveries, including logistics and paperwork
  • Performs accurate quality control checks
  • Escalates any potential safety or quality concerns
  • Conveys materials and items from receiving areas to storage or to the other designated areas
  • Sorts and places materials and items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, temperature specifications, type, style, or product code
  • Unloads material, verifies packing slip, notates discrepancies, and distributes items to proper workers
  • Assembles paperwork from Account Coordinator and places orders on pallets or shelves
  • Marks materials with identifying information and verifies accuracy
  • Stretch wrap and band skids
  • Take measurements of freight to be packed, and verify quantities and part numbers
  • Load freight into box. Block and brace the freight properly to ensure stability
  • Close box and apply markings as needed
  • Counts items within service center to ensure conformance to company standards
  • Arranges materials in order of FIFO or other customer specified sequencing
  • Uses computer for inter-company correspondence
  • Prepares parcels for outbound shipments
  • Maintains showcase standards through cleanliness and organization throughout the warehouse by performing housekeeping duties, including picking up and dumping trash
  • Handles tools and materials according to training/regulations and in a safe and proper manner
  • Reads customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
  • Maintains inventory records
  • Participates in Kaizen or process improvement teams
  • Participates in safety, quality, or other committee memberships as needed
  • Responsible for all activity that occurs within assigned area
  • Ensures that assigned area operates efficiently to meet all deadlines as assigned
  • Conduct inspections of work being performed to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Interacts with customers professionally and provides excellent customer service
  • Maintains healthy working relationship with other leads and supervisors within the organization
  • Monitors emails and phone calls to ensure that correct information is received and relayed to necessary personnel
  • Serves as the work team leader and fills in when team members are absent and as business needs dictate
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, including but not limited to OSHA and TSA
  • Ability to identify different classifications of hazardous materials
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have 3-5 years as Checking/Receiving Warehouse Lead in related industry field, i.e. freight forwarding, packing, warehousing, logistics, transportation, etc
  • Must have high School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Warehouse software - C2C required
  • Forklift Experience Required 12k required
  • Must have hand tools experience, reading tape measure and use basic hand tools.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook

  • Able to work overtime (scheduled and/or unscheduled, and/or weekends, on call) as needed or required to meet established deadlines.
  • Able to work in fast paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Able to perform work outdoors in a warehouse, regardless of whether.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly for the duration of a shift.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, kneel, and lift cumbersome and/or heavy objects.
  • Ability to work prolonged and/or irregular hours.
  • Ability to work through stressful situations.
  • Ability to communicate orally in a clear manner.
  • Able to hear oral communication either in person or on equipment such as telephone or mobile phone.
