We are currently searching for a motivated individual who wants to join a growing company as a Charge Master Specialist.
Position Summary:
Charge Master Specialist - serves as a functional subject matter expert in coding and reimbursement systems, including ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS for the national Outpatient Physical & Occupational Therapy Company. This is not a medical billing or claims analyst position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports billing and practice management support team with internal coding, pricing, and fee schedule analysis and provides updates and recommendations
- Develop standardized spreadsheets for fee schedule upload into the practice management system
- Provide analysis and updates for CPT, HCPCS, CCI edits, Medicare Fee Schedule, commercial payer, and Workers Comp coding changes
- Support the organization's training and implementation of ICD-10 coding
- Facilitates appropriate clinical coding to support diagnosis capture, specificity, and accuracy
- Monitors Medicare LCDs and updates relevant staff
- Reviews and resolves coding issues with clinical, business office and contracting staff
- Collaborates in the development of training programs, initiatives, and work flows to support clinical coding and guidelines
- Charge Master/fee schedule review, analysis and recommendations including fee schedule methodology
- Provide pricing projections for private payors, Medicare and Workers Comp
- Monitor guidelines and any new information in the CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 coding
- Contribute to the overall team effort by working with all members and all levels of personnel in various locations throughout the company
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college preferred
- Charge Master experience a must
- At least one of the following credentials required: CPC, CCA, CCS, CCS-P
- 5 years of clinical coding experience, either as specialist/analyst or program manager in outpatient health care and extensive knowledge of coding classification systems such as ICD-9 and ICD-10
- Microsoft Office - Excel proficiency a must.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Excellent organizational and detail oriented skills
- Previous experience working in corporate setting preferred.
