Job description

CTG is seeking to fill a Characterization Engineer – ToF-SIMS / XPS opening for our client in Yorktown Heights, NY.

 

Location: Yorktown Heights, NY

Duration: Ongoing contract

 

Overview:

The job involves the use of advanced characterization tooling and equipment to help fabricate and characterize advanced semiconductor devices on 200mm silicon wafers in the FAB. Part of the work may be conducted in a cleanroom environment and a basic knowledge of the principles behind semiconductor processing, chemistry and physics is required. In addition, strong computer and analytical skills are necessary and experience in semiconductor processing is a plus. The candidate is expected to work closely with engineers and the research teams to accomplish the tasks assigned to him/her. The work is centered around the company’s most advanced R&D efforts at its premier research and development site. Good communication skills and the ability to handle fast-paced, complex work is essential.

 

Duties:

  • Use ion spectroscopy techniques (Time of Flight SIMS and SIMS) to characterize thin films and devices from the facility and various groups in Research.
  • Perform X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy on similar samples.
  • Use other available characterization techniques as needed.
  • Knowledge of AFM, TXRF, SEM and XRD an advantage.
  • In a team environment, work with process team to perform characterization of wafers.
  • Execute processes on wafers for research and development and for characterization prep.
  • Perform tool qualifications and maintain tool and process qualification records.

 

Skills:

  • Standing on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Required to lift 85 pounds (10-gallon carboy) to knee level.
  • The ability to cart 55-gallon drum with contents (Est weight 500 lbs.) from one end of the building to the other (1/4 mile)
  • Dexterity is required to self-evacuate from laboratory.
  • This is a physically demanding job.
  • Complete online safety classes as outlined by site safety.

 

Education:

  • PhD in engineering or related field is preferred, Master’s degree also considered

 

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
