Qualifications & Credentials (Education/Training):
- Seminary/College degree in ministry or other accredited training in ministry, (preferably a M. Div.) for solo chaplains and chaplains who will play a more senior role on the campus.
- Bible College degree or other college degree with additional specialized ministry training is a minimal requirement for chaplains playing a secondary role on the campus.
- Specialized training and/or certification from a recognized religious denomination or organization.
- Licensed and/or ordained by their faith group/denomination in order to administer communion and perform full pastoral duties for solo and lead pastors on campuses.
- Practices private and corporate devotional life of prayer, worship, study, fellowship, and service; foundational part of applicant’s life.
- Proven record of practicing an ecumenical approach to ministry with other clergy, churches, groups.
- Professional and/or personal experience ministering to the elderly, gerontology, dementia and coursework in these areas.
- Training and/or experience in professional chaplaincy such as Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), pastoral counseling or similar formal coursework and practicum experience is not required but is preferred.
- Pastoral ministry in parish setting, in long term pastorates which included older congregants and/or Chaplaincy in Assisted Living, or Skilled Nursing and/or Dementia units.
