CHAIRPERSON
DIVISION OF ATHLETIC TRAINING
SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
West Virginia University (WVU) located in Morgantown, WV, is seeking a highly-qualified leader to serve as the Chairperson for the Division of Athletic Training, professional Master's Program. The Athletic Training Chairperson will lead a division within the Department of Human Performance, and as such will report directly to the Vice Dean for Health Professions. The Chairperson will have ultimate responsibility for administration of the Athletic Training education program at all levels, including strategic planning, alumni relations, budget; oversight of faculty recruitment, development, and retention as well as development of new program initiatives. The chairperson will work with the professional program director and faculty to assure CAATE requirements for compliance and reaccreditation are met. The chairperson is expected to have an integral role in curriculum development and program assessment. Chairperson is expected to be actively engaged in teaching students in courses and has oversight of the entry level professional program. Will also be responsible for development of new program initiatives, such as post-professional education opportunities. The chairperson will have the responsibility to represent the program to other WVU entities, such as the Department of Athletics and other units across the university.
The Health Professions unit is home to over 1,400 students enrolled in degree programs including exercise physiology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, medical laboratory science, immunology, pathologist's assistant, physician assistant, and health information management. The School of Medicine is part of a thriving academic medical center, which includes Schools of Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health. Together, the five schools provide robust opportunities and programs for inter-professional education, collaborative practice and research.

Qualifications
The Chairperson must meet the following criteria for consideration:
- An earned doctoral degree (PhD or EdD preferred) in fields related to Athletic Training Profession.
- Knowledge and training of current concepts and best practice routine areas of Athletic Training
- Certification and good standing with the Board of Certification. It is expected that the candidate will obtain WV Athletic Training credentials upon employment.
- A minimum of five (5) years of clinical practice as an athletic trainer.
- A scholarship record consistent with appointment at the Associate or Full Professor rank.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience as an academic faculty in a professional Athletic Training program.
- Familiarization with the CAATE accreditation process and ability to assist with CAATE requirements.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of the appointment.

- Minimum of three (3) years of membership and participation in a national and/or international professional organization related to the profession of Athletic Training.
