Organizational Summary

Maternity Care Coalition (MCC) is a community-based nonprofit organization serving Pennsylvania and Delaware with over four decades of commitment to improving maternal and child health and early care and education. MCC’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of pregnant women and parenting families and enhance school readiness for children 0—3. We achieve this through direct service, advocacy, and research, in collaboration with individuals, families, providers, and communities. Position Summary

The CES Lead Advocate is responsible for coordinating coverage to respond to incoming phone calls, texts, and/or web inquiries, ensuring compliance with program deliverables, and supporting department development. The CES Lead Advocate establishes and maintains relationships with collaborative partners, processes referrals, and supports agency outreach efforts. Supervises a team of up to 3 staff and conducts regular reflective supervision. This position requires in-person work within the community.

Essential Functions

Administrative

  • Adheres to MCC’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and CES’ policies and procedures to ensure adherence to agency and program standards
  • Supervises 3 staff, conducts regular reflective supervision, and maintains accurate supervision records
  • Provides coverage to incoming phone calls, text and/or website inquiries from community members seeking reproductive, sexual, maternal and child health services, parenting supports, and social support resources
  • Maintains regular contact with collaborative partners to facilitate health referrals and social support resources for families
  • Supports quality assurance measures by monitoring referral entries & outcomes and community outreach events
  • Completes report(s) timely as required by the Director
  • Meets with supervisor regularly to report on and discuss work
  • Supports department recruitment efforts by participating in interview processes
  • Facilitates regular team meetings
  • Supports the team in problem solving, identifying SDOH resources, outreach strategies, etc.
  • Ensures confidentiality of family records, sharing pertinent information only with approval (exception for mandated reporting requirements)
  • Prepares performance evaluations with input from staff
  • Strengthens own and staff’s skills through professional development
  • Routinely uses MCC family database(s) and other computer systems including e-mail, Internet, and Microsoft Office programs

Community Outreach

  • Supports the development and implementation of MCC literacy initiatives
  • Supports the development of strategic outreach plans to engage community members in MCC programs and initiatives
  • Conducts health promotion activities by providing MCH education, literacy information, distributing period supplies, and STI prevention materials
  • Attends community meetings, health fairs, and represents MCC as needed
  • Other Tasks
  • Adheres to MCC’s security guidelines and ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information
  • Attends relevant staff meetings to promote communication and execution of goals
  • Trains new Advocates as requested
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of MCC’s mission, vision, and Theory of Change (TOC), and DEIJ objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, culturally aware, courteous, cordial, cooperative, interactions with diverse groups of co-workers, community partners, families, and community members
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of energy and contribute as part of a larger team
  • Knowledge of the concepts and practices associated with community health issues and social determinants of health, particularly with pregnant people and parenting families served.
  • Ability to travel in and around MCC’s service region to conduct community outreach
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues facing the communities served
  • Experience in procedures for determining service eligibility, assessing needs, identifying resources, making referrals, following up, and documenting family interactions
  • Ability to organize tasks in an efficient manner and follow-through with strong attention to detail.

Experience, Education, and Licensure

  • Associate’s degree in social work, Public Health, Human Services, Women’s Studies or related field required
  • 4+ years’ experience providing services in a community setting
  • Knowledge of reproductive, sexual, and maternal child health
  • Bilingual Candidate strongly encouraged to apply
  • Valid driver’s license with driving experience required
